Noise from front of engine when turned off

So when i turn my car off (2015 X6 50i) im getting a loud harsh motor noise. It sounds awful. After searching around the forums it appears to be the Aux Pump. So i looked around the engine compartment and i think the reservoir on the left backside of the engine (that sits directly to right of the windshield washer fill) is the aux pump fill. So i opened it up and looked inside and its completely empty.. I have no codes. Still have plenty of power but i think this is my issue. I don't see anything leaking at all..

Anyways... What do you guys think this is going to cost me if its a bad pump or pump line. And what type fluid can i put in there for the time being. I'm closest to Autozone. Just something to get me by.

That is the overfill reservoir for the intercooler fluid.

Ditto Ponytuning...the reservoir you have pictured is the one for the DME/charge air cooling circuit. The reason you didn’t get a warning is that the reservoir doesn’t have a level sensor.

Stop by a local auto parts store and get some coolant (anti-freeze) that is compatible with BMW (blue) coolant). I can’t remember off the top of my head but a simple google search will give you the compatible type of coolant because it has been discussed for decades.

Below you can see diagrams of all 3 circuits The location of the DME/charge air cooler reservoir is in multiple location depending on which model your N63TU engine is in. Some are up front & some are located on the right side of the engine. You can see the MAX/MIN indication in the reservoir you pictured for the DME/charge air cooler. The reservoir for the engine cooling circuit is located in the fender and has a fill pipe which requires measuring down from the top of the filler neck (4”-6”) to see if that reservoir is at the correct fill level...but it also has a sensor level to let you know when it is low:

There are three cooling circuits in the N63TU engine variants...you have the:

1. Engine cooling circuit
2. Turbocharger cooling circuit
3. Charge Air/DME cooling circuit

A big Thank you to everyone that replied.. Most appreciated.. I thought it was completely empty.. In reality it was only down like one cup of fluid. That was enough to stop the pump from sucking air. It is now back to a very light audible motor noise. Hopefully i dodged a bullet. I don't see anything leaking. Hopefully the amount i lost just dissipated over the past 5 years.. Time will tell.

I caught them in time, both reservoirs on my wife's x5 and my x6 were empty, never got any warning messages. What I've observed is that coolant fluid evaporates over time in the 50i so check frequently. I don't have any leaks and no coolant contamination in engine per blackstone oil analysis.
