Anyone found a use for Voice Commands?

In my old Ford POS DD I used to use mine ALL THE TIME - and it worked 95% of the time. I even had the old one still designed by Microsoft.

X5? Horrible! I bet it is right 15% of the time - basically worthless. The only thing it does decent is call who I tell it to - but with my HUD and the long list of prior calls, I rarely use it.

Anyone find anything that it DOES do well?

What I miss most is the "Play song XXX" feature. No matter where you were at, it would grab that song from your thumb drive and queue it up perfectly with not a single glance away from the road. I was trying to use it in the X5 this morning and it was like something out of a comedy! I got so mad I started laughing at how bad it was.

Are the newer (mine is 2015) ones any better? I kind of doubt it, but maybe? Maybe it works better with German........ =)

I use it occasionally for very basic things like "call mom" or "call dad". Usually it's 50-50 on whether it will return the correct name from the address book on the first attempt. Disappointing for an expensive 2015 vehicle.

I've had BMWs for years and I've NEVER been able to enter a navigation address by voice.

The only thing I use voice for it to start guidance for an address already in my address book by saying "address book, (location title)" and the. "Yes" when asked to start guidance.

The voice response in my 2017 F15 is light years ahead of the one that was in my 2104. It almost always hears me correctly. If memory serves, there was a major upgrade in 2016 or 2017.

Not bad in my 2018. I occasionally need to repeat the address; however, I am generally satisfied with the voice command.

Maybe they hear southern twang, they are from SC. Mine works better than others, I use it to text all the time. I also successfully pull up things like "sport displays" sometimes.

My 2014 F15 is spot on 90% of the time when entering addresses or other commands via voice command. It's great since I can focus more on driving instead of fiddling with iDrive on the freeway.

I always use CarPlay now with Siri. Even that has its problems but overall works pretty good.

No problem with common called numbers...especially a local rib joint that has a Tuesday special...I could call leaving work for takeout. I could just say the name and it would call the number with no problem. Unfortunately due to COVID-19...I haven’t gone there since approx May/2020.

It works pretty good, but the hotspot use makes it a little tedious for anything but longer trips and I'm not sure I'd do it again if I had it to do over again. Not worth the expense TO ME. But it is a nice unit and works as advertised. Display is greatly improved for sure - beautiful acreen.

Voice commands for different menus, navigation etc work fine for me. Much better than the system in my 2012 Grand Cherokee.
