2018 BMW X5 35i X-Line Winter Set Up
Hey everyone,
Would love feedback here. My father just purchased a 2018 X Line 35i X5. Stock, it has the 449 wheels 19X9.0 255/50R19. From what I've read and researched here, a lot of members recommend the Hakka R2's. I know these are awesome because I've had them on my sedan in the past, but I'm guessing the members here are referring to Hakka R2 SUV version? Has anyone had experience ordering from tirebyweb? It seems not many dealers that are conveniently located here stock them. Also, being it's the 35i model, would most members recommend going to a 18" wheel and go for the 255/55R18? I don't see the correct tire size for a 19" wheel which is stock (all it goes up to is 255/45R19). I'd like to get a separate wheel set up. Would the wheel size be 18X9.0? Does anyone have any recommendations? Any other tire recommendations? Thank you in advance! |

19's are fine, plus you can probably find a set of used 19" rims easy. the 18 just look weak.
one thing to decide is if you want runflat tires, especially if you have no spare. your oem tires are runflat. i dont think you can really go wrong with any winter tire. find one that is common, just in case you need a replacement at any point. |

also, if you want a one stop shop for wheels and tires, you can try tirerack. they'll deliver you wheels/tires ready to bolt on. the rims will be kinda generic though.

If you swap in winters for the season, then yes, I'd stick with 19s from an aesthetic point of view. 18s will absolutely be fine, but as others have stated, look small for the X5.
I run Blizzak V1s and they are great, but you can't go wrong with either. Hakkas by default are great winter tires, but availability may be an issue. Not too many shops carry them.

There you go buddy, 18' FTW. Very soft ride with non-runflats too. Forgot to add, i am using Goodyear Ultragrip winter tyres. I am sort of a Goodyear fanboy when it comes to tyres. Last edited by mkdan2004; 02-24-2018 at 03:51 AM.. |
