MPPK Install

So, I had it set up to purchase an MPPK from a gentleman on the forum. And by set up, I mean I reached out to him to inquire about one, he said he had one, and I said I wanted one. It didn't really go any further than that...but I digress...

I was at my local dealership and asked my service manager what the install cost would be after I purchased this MPPK. He said they weren't an authorized dealership and couldn't do it.

What's up with that? What are my options? I'd like a little more oomph...

One of the op can remotely do for you for some fees.

Interesting... you were at your local BMW dealership and your service manager states that they are not an authorized dealership? Clearly he is an idiot... the MPPK is available via all BMW Centers. In fact there is a BMW part number associated to it. See attachment.

I think the OP is saying the seller is not authorized, so the dealership doesn't want to take the MPPK from a third party and try to install it. However, the dealer doesn't understand the MPPK very well...I'm sure they're not the only dealership who has this policy though.

OP, just find another dealer, or search this forum, you'll find others who can program it for you remotely (provided you follow their steps w/ PC and cable).

Na, they didn’t even ask where I was getting it from. He just said they weren’t an authorized installer and that I’d have to go to Charlotte. And he’s always been really cool about hooking me up with things, as he has a side hustle detailing cars and sometimes I pay him to do mine. I just hadn’t heard of this before..

From what I experienced most dealers have no clue about MPPK and never knew it existed.. You have to go to some of the dealers that have done installations in the past.

I've found that the service managers are generally idiots...Sounds like you're on pretty good terms with him. I'd ask him to check with one of his more tenured Service Advisors or the parts department.

I have the same issue with my service advisor, I like him but honestly don't think he understands much, just says what he has been told in the past. He said that their dealership doesn't offer the MPPK for x5's anymore even though they offer it for other n55 engines.. so they won't let me buy one from their parts department nor will they install one. Looks like the remote tuning will have to suffice or can a local tuning shop that works on bmws install it?

Are there any other BMW dealers nearby? I purchased my MPPK from getbmwparts.com https://www.getbmwparts.com/oem-part...ly-11122344610 ( they are selling it for $997.92 no tax) and my dealer wouldn't install it because I didn't purchase from them, so I had to find a different dealer who would provide the service.

FYI. I purchased my MPPK off eBay and had it installed at HENDRICK on Rt 74 for $180 in Charlotte. Worth every penny and the people at the dealer were great. âš¡ï¸âš¡ï¸âš¡ï¸

I had it done at BMW Tenefly, was under $180 for the install, I think I bought the software on some other site as it was cheaper. I got a sense they dont do a lot of these installs, but they were happy to do it once I explained it.

It is def worth it, you will notice a difference.
