All X5s and X6s are produced at BMW’s Plant Spartanburg in Greer, South Carolina.

All X5's and X6's are made in South Carolina.

Here is cool VIN decoder to see what options your X6 has:

It's "assembled" in south Carolina would be more accurate.

Yes assembly plant. Although a whole lot of building goes on. It is pretty "built" here...

Body Shop:
360 robots & 450 workers in the X5/X6 body shop alone.
7,500 spot welds & 350 stud welds
6 hours per body
260ft of sealer
6.5ft of welds
80 rivets
400 components

Paint Shop:
12 hours per vehicle
4 miles traveled per vehicle
100 robots
Five coats (phosphate, E-Coat, base coat, base coat, clear coat
3/4 gallon of paint for bases

Then it's on to assembly.

Just some more fun facts for nerds like me...

Over 10,000 employees
70% of vehicles produced are exported from Charleston, SC to 140 foreign markets
Vehicles are roll-tested up to 85mph
6 million square foot campus
Fastest factor start-up in automotive history (23 months from groundbreaking to first car produced)
First USA water based paint vehicle
50% of plant power comes from landfill methane conversion

1,400 vehicles produced per day
235 suppliers from USA
40 South Carolina suppliers

Over 36 feet of welding wire (MIG) used to build each X5
10 bolts mount engine to chassis

Plant has its own medical facility for doctor visits, vision, dental, etc. and even has a pharmacy

BMW has its own fire and police departments on-site. Over 50 officers patrol and safeguard the 1,000+ acres
