Cold Weather Flat Spotting

Is anyone else experiencing flat spotting every time you get back in the car in this cold weather? It's been down in the teens here in central VA, not nearly as cold as the Midwest right now but it's been a rough ride until the tires heat up to around 40F. I have 285s in the front and 325s in the rear so are obviously more susceptible than much narrower tires. 37/45 nitrogen psi.

I am also curious to hear how everyone is doing in the Midwest and how their X5's are performing in the -30F and colder temps.

Never heard of that brand. It could be a summer tire which tend to get hard in the cold.

No, they are All Seasons. They're not becoming hockey pucks like MPSS's get below 40 degrees. I still have great grip, but it could be that it's a lower price tire with this issue. I believe I am the only one in this forum running with the Accellera's.

I understand flat spotting can be typical for any wide tire if it has sat for a week or more. I am curious if anyone else with wide tires is experiencing flat spotting like this on a daily basis when it's this cold.

I've not had issues with flat spotting here in frigid Minnesota. Minus 30F temps in the morning and evening the last two days.

Running on Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow winter tires.

Parked in a heated garage overnight, so no issue there. It sits outside for about 9 hours during the day.

I have not had that issue with MPSS, driving the car about 1-2 times per month when able in winter. I keep the pressures a little high.

I can testify that Bridgestone RE11 and RE71r were both prone to flat spotting with infrequent use in winter, and usually took a mile or two of driving to resolve, no problems in warm weather.

BFG rivals were the worst I have ever experienced and would flat spot even in summer if they sat more than a couple days and would take about 5 miles of driving to smooth out.

Yes. It’s not isolated to your brand. I’ve had something similar with Higher end brands and not just in freezing temperatures. Took several km’s To settle down. Very low profile tires seem to exhibit this more.

This - conti's do as well for me and the issue "rolls out" as the temp comes up
