I have MPPK and MPE, was considering adding a catted DP for some extra sound and/or burbles. Any more videos would be appreciated. Thanks, |

Been off this forum for a bit. I've been seeing a lot of you guys going with BM3 tune. Is the RC GTS black tune a thing of the past? That's currently what I'm running with no other mods other than a drop in air filter. Currently looking at muffler options and possibly catted downpipe. So is the BM3 far superior over the RC GTS black? Or is the fact you guys are running an aftermarket downpipe the reason you went with BM3? From the looks of this thread, a downpipe is needed to progress to the BM3 stage 2 tune. Lastly, I paid $600 for my RC tune, is the MP3 similar in price?

I got a JB4 on Map 1 on stock 50i and have similar 0-60, 1/4 mile times as BM3 users and other flash tunes and for that reason I decided not to switch over to BM3. I’m happy where it sits. I have no knowledge on the RC but I’m sure it’s similar.

Makes sense...if it ain't broke then don't fix it. I've heard JB4 and BM3 are similar anyway.

I guess this is a good thread to ask this question. Im thinking about doing a catted downpipe but from what I'm reading on other threads, i will definitely get a CEL at some point. But can the CEL be avoided with a tune? Specifically, Im thinking of doing BM3 with catted DP. Any insight?

RaceChip unfortunately won't let you code out the CEL , but both BM3 and MHD will.

Which FMIC did you go with? I'm stage 2 BM3 and I'm still sporting the stock FMIC. I know, I know, I'm a very bad boy lol. My rational is somewhat foolish. I don't beat on the car and do repeated spirited runs so my IAT's shouldn't get that high. Am I being a moron? I am still using the stock air box with a drop in air filter in hopes heat soak isn't as bad than with an open air box setup.

ha ha we do what we can. Def list that RC for sale. Stage 1 in BM3 or MHD will literally blow your socks off. Just imagine going from 10 psi max boost stock to 18-19 psi max boost in the snap of a finger. It literally pissed me off I didn't sale my RC GTS sooner to get the stage 1 flash. You can then progress to stage 2 if you'd like, but stage 1 is plenty for most.

The last car I tuned was my 2007 GTI with APR. Just got BM3 stage 1 and I'm blown away. And it has nothing to do with the performance, which is amazing. Maybe I'm old and been away from tuning for awhile but Im just amazed by how far software tuning has come over a decade. The customizations, live data logging, graphing and cloud back up. I literally just sat in my car for hours playing with it. Im sure other companies are similar now but bm3 is very very user friendly and great for beginners IMO. I wish I had this much info at my fingertips 10 years ago!

I got the VRSF race HD FMIC.
Agree with others… even just a stage 1 tune and your X feels like a totally different beast. I also did XHP transmission stage 3 tune to raise line pressures to help prevent slip and wear. I like faster snappy shifts vs slow clutch wearing shifts. Like the "Brap" from MHD … between shifts and when I let off after pushing it One day I'll get a go pro to mount to back of car to video … sounds amazing. With stage 2 plus I still avg. 22 mpg combined |

Btw who here has upgraded FMIC… what's your difference in ambient temp and inlet temp when driving.
Mine is around 15 degrees different. If it's 75 outside, my intake temp is around 85-90. Wondering how much paint is affecting temps. Thank you. |

On my Wagner Tuning FMIC which I've just installed recently, I logged about 10-20 degrees higher than ambient temperature. It's been hotter these days in Houston now; and at 95 degrees in the afternoon, I logged 106 to 109 degrees during motion; then at the light during a stop, it goes up to about 115 to 120 degrees. Not sure what the stock IC does because I didn't care before.
