Remember, the chip only works in a certain RPM range and only when you call for it - acceleration. Otherwise, at cruise, start, decelleration, it has no affect.

Trojanlaw, thanks for the helpful responses and tests . I also looked at the Sport Auto and Launch control codes yesterday on gatordent's cousin's car. All of those codes are as follows:
Enable Launch Control: requires Sport Auto Transmission coding below 1) EGS / LC / nicht_aktiv to aktiv Enable Sport Auto Transmission: 1) EGS / Sportschalter / nicht_aktiv to aktiv (Part 1) 2) EGS / Sportschalter_alt / nicht_aktiv to aktiv (Part 2) I will add them to the cheat sheet later today . Yes, you should have Launch Control activated by default.

Since I've had it, it's always about 1 1/2 to 2 mpg too high.

I think it is difficult defining exactly where a smell/sound like this are coming from. I experienced it first time on a Toyota 2.2 DCat Diesel, could not isolate where smell came and noise came from - went to Toyota and he confirmed it was the particle filter cleaning. Two other Toy Diesels, my F25 and now E70 smells/ticks regular. Can off course not say that your sound is 100% related to this. Maybe check with BMW? |

The self-cleaning of the DPF surely seems to be the likely when think about all the symptoms, strange smell, little bit of rattling etc, was just a strange coincidence me trying new setting on RC but if it happens again I will detune and set a time whit bmw, I'm allways very dubious when it comes to coincidences thanks for the help!

42pilot, I am pretty sure the EU 30D and the US35D is identical and cleaning should be identical- just Bmw marketing ( however read somewhere that the U.S. version might have the same cooler as standard as EU get when buying the Bmw mpp box). The particle filter cleaning cycle should be identical. What can change how often and for how long the clean takes is individual as it is related to driving style. Here in EU diesel are dominating even though many would do better with a petrol as they do not drive enough km - the engine does not get warm enough. This is why so many clock up the engine with carbon. In those situations the particle filter will happen more often and take longer. But you say rattling noise - the Dpf clean noise is like small ticks not rattling. This may be something else but not sure what

42 Pilot -
So would you recommend E3 or F2? I have been pretty satisfied with E3 but have not tried F yet to feel the difference. Which is giving you more kick? E3 or F2?

Racechip Update
According to the new manual, on page 9 of the newly printed manual, Racechip is now officially reporting the following for the 35d chip:
Base: E0 Performance Level 1: E2 Performance Level 2: F3 This is the first time I have seen Racechip actually provide an opinion. Based upon this, I am going to stick with F3. It also suggests that the E3 setting may not get enough fuel to be as efficient as it needs to be. Thoughts?

For your info, I am now at 03. After 35 miles, no rattling, strange smells, etc. Very nice throttle response, cruise, and very very nice roll-on power from 55mph to 80mph.

im thinking about changing the stock intercoller to this one:
http://www.kempower-motorsport.com/i...oduct_id=26046 I think it’s the Wagner intercooler you guys have in NA. The 30d/35d seems to boost max 1.5 bar (21.7557 psi) so whit this intercooler everything over approximately 1 bar will give a HP gain and it should be especially good whit added fuel from RC, any thoughts?
