Has anyone actually seen a change to their estimated production week yet? Called BMW NA today and mine still shows week 49, but that of course is "subject to change" as they make sure to remind you every time you call...

So just curious....Did BMW underestimate how many and how well equipped people would want their F'15?

Seems that way, but man, cameras seem like an awfully obvious thing to be able to forecast demand.

Update -

My X5 is in production (got a VIN # today; expected delivery end of next week). According to my SA, only orders with the 20" wheels and the Nappa Leather are being pushed out. My truck has the Driver assistance and the extended driver assistance packages.

Curious as to how that would work. Would you get your deposit $ back?

I don't have 20" wheels but do have all of the packages that involve the rear view camera, and per the 800# my vehicle just entered production. Hard to square that with what I'm reading about the parts shortages.

So maybe the camera issue is resolved, hopefully. That or maybe you guys are among the last to get them and avoid being pushed out as others have been. So far, I'm still told week 49 but we'll see.

If you were promised a certain date and they do not deliver; I think as a consumer you do have a right to rescind your offer and deposit. They should honor it.

The way I would play it is if you cannot give me what I want as was initially promised; give me another X5 of similar build within that time frame. if they are unable to oblige, have them 'rent' out another vehicle to you free of cost until you get your X5. If they refuse, have them return your deposit and go shop elsewhere. Infact if I was an a$$hole, I would make them pay at least 2 months worth of payments towards whatever you buy; or better yet; if you got say a Cayenne of similar build, make them take a hit on the difference.

My 2 cents

Update from across the atlantic

Dear Bimmerposters,

I've been reading the forum ever since I wanted to by an F11 M550d, which changed into a X5 (F15) 3.0d during summer '13. Funny to see how taste and preferences are very different across the globe, but that we all share a common 'fate' as BMW fans.
My BMW X5 was ordered 5 october 2013, by then I already knew that production couldn't start before december due to the 20" individuals. By reading this forum, especially this thread, I became aware of the supply chain issues. For me this translated into production week 4 of 2014, meaning delivery will at the optimistic very best be, 3 week of March.
There is nothing my dealer can do about it, and BMW Netherlands couldn't care less. Although it's called customer relations by BMW, they actually mean BMW Pay & Obey.

In this part of the world, these machines are heavily taxed aswell, mine is pretty loaded, which results in a price of more than 160.000$ customer price.

I hope you all get your X5 as soon as possible and good luck with the wait.

Sounds like you're being BS'd.

Picked up mine today and asked my CA about part shortages outside if the known 50i issues and said he's seen no such bulletins/has been ordering cars/receiving 35i build dates in November/December.

PM me if you want his info- they've got one going into production in 8 days that can be modified.

It didn't come from my CA. The 35i only delays I've heard about were from others on here that were told by their CA's that cars were being delayed due to back up cameras, 20" wheels, and a couple other options (at least one of which has since had his car started production anyway).

Personally, my CA acknowledged some sort of issue with the cameras, but so far has maintained it would not impact mine, my order holds steady (so far) for a week 49 production, as it has always been.

X5 sDr35i, X5 xDr35i and X5 xDr50i – Update

For November and December production, the following content is restricted:

Option 2PW - 20" M Light Alloy Double Spoke Wheels

Option 4M5 - Nappa Leather Dashboard

Option 3AG – Rear-View Camera

Option 5DL - Surround View Camera / ZDB – Driver Assistance Plus

NAMY – Mocha Nappa Leather

NAEX – Ivory White Nappa Leather

All orders with this content are being pushed out to January 2014 production. If your customers wish to remove these options, we will pull the order back into November or December production."

Curious if you have received better news about your delivery date?

Yea, they canceled without issue. I ended up getting a 640i Gran Coupe, got the dealer to get me 3% above invoice which I was happy with!

Its carbon black on nappa red, I am in love!

Good look everyone waiting on the X5! I wish I could have waited for my truck but it wasn't meant to be I guess!

Just my 2 cents regarding the rearview camera: got my new X5 couple days ago and I ordered it with the camera. This camera is awesome!!! It is way better than the one I had on my 2011 X5. First, you can barely see the camera on the back of the car. Also, not sure if the camera itself was improved or if the new LCD screen makes the difference but you get a way wider view of the rear of the car and the image is clear and amazing even when it is dark.
