Just read C&D's review of the xdrive 35i. They observed 21 mpg during their test. I'm 600 miles into my xdrive 35i & registering 14.6 mpg and I've been doing most of my driving on Eco plus. Wtf? One of the biggest reasons I traded in my '10 X5 M was for better mpg. I was starting to feel carbon footprint-guilt. But I'm only getting a 4 mpg bump... Curious to know what you guys are getting?

I do a lot of local street. So far 4500 miles.
I would say averaging around 14mpg. I think you are about right. Never believe what the sticker says. Those are calculated on the engine itself, not hauling the 6000LBS of its body and road condition. I think there was an article about that. You should google it.

If mileage was a big concern how come you did not get the diesel? It's only $1500 more no?

35d: getting 24 mixed use on only second tank of gas. Easily 30s on freeway. But even accelerating moderately the gauge reads 9-11mpg

Gas mileage 35d
Just hit 4000 miles and mostly highway. Averaging between 30-33 per tank use Eco-pro on long drives and cruise at 71mph or so

You are coming from a X5M, maybe your driving it in a way which provides the same feel. If your used to gazelle starts and you are driving the 35 the same, you will see drastic fuel consumption. I have to really drive ultra conservative in my X5 50 and M3 to get anywhere close to the EPA numbers. It does not take much to dump 2-5 mpg.
