Last tank on my 35i was 22.9 mpg (divided miles by gas at fill-up; car reported mpg at 21.9)

~2,000 miles on odo, 50-50 city/highway, 90% eco pro mode, highway speed around 70 mph

Give it time, your motor is still very green. You might not be getting peak MPGs till 10k miles into the motor (I'm not implying you'll always see 50% of published MPG till 10k, but in general motors wear in and loosen up a bit). Also, like Mrv99 said, you are coming from an X5M. Your brain is probably trying to get the same feel as it had in the M so you may be pushing the car harder to try and get that same feeling, thus lowering your MPGs.

Anyway, it will get better over time. We have 2 N55 equipped BMWs now and they have both gotten higher than publsihed MPGs on longer drives which is pretty impressive in my book.
