I think that if you take the emblem off there's a blank flat spot where it'd normally go. That was discussed in another thread. I'll email iND and find out.

I tried removing it, but there is a flat area behind it and it looks really stupid without it...atleast on my nightvision ones.

It is just a wonderfull option, it detects pedestrians and large animals (even dogs) at several hundred meters. One of the reasons I went for BMW SUV. We drive to our cottage in the North many weekends and we have long stretches of road without moose fences, and it just gives you a little extra safety. In Finland our roads dont have lights,only main highways and in the winter the sun doesnt really come up for more than a few hours,if at all. A few months ago I was driving home on a very dark Autumn night with rain and suddenly a bicycle comes out of nowhere from behind a bush with no lights, no street lights and right in front of me. So I am going for the brake,but the system is way ahead of me. The high beams go on automatically, the flying spot flashes at the guy, I get a warning and I am pretty sure the car was braking ahead of me. It is a really good option in dark nights.

This video gives you an idea how good it is. In combination with HUD it works exactly as described here, but you dont need to look at the screen or even have the screen on, you get a deer warning in the HUD!

Hadn't seen that...and wow, what amazing technology. Where does the infrared camera display the image? Was the black and white image being shown in the video on the main screen or HUD?

The infrared image on the right of the video is from the center display screen. The HUD only shows icons.
