The Missing Dash Cam Hack
For those who have Driver Assistant Plus, the car comes with:
Also, they all have a hard disc drive of circa 10-12GB, which in all likelihood can be decoded for video playback. And, if not, a USB thumb drive could come to its assistance. Cameras are there. Storage is there/easy to add. Playback is there. Data capture is absent. Q: How much would you pay for hack that would make the cameras act as an on-board DVR? It would avoid dash cams for those considering them. Q: What does it take to make it do this? Coding? Software patch? Q: Is there a way to send enhancement requests to BMW? If executed by BMW the best deliver of such a feature would allow the driver to have the recording toggle through cameras, capture all four frames simultaneously, or the one(s) the driver selects, such as front and rear. |

I would pay $400-$500 just for that additional DVR function. That would be a great addition to the car.
