X5 50i extend warranty
Hello, did anyone buy extend warranty for their x5? I want to buy one for my 50i from BMW dealership. The best quote I got is $4800 for 72mth/100k platinum. Did anyone know if it is a good deal?

Another good aftermarket warranty company is Route66 - I've heard only good things about them You might want to get a quote with them just to compare P.S. Just recently I gave a shell shock to a poor Mustang GT driver who thought his car was faster than my benchflashed 50i So I had to put him in it's place - poor guys heart was broken - I guess he will never have faith in Mustangs anymore, at least he'll be having nausea and abdominal pain every-time he sees a x5 on the road That being said, as much fun as it is to humiliate poor domestic "sport car with stripes" owners - I do realize that i'm pushing it in terms of engine. here's couple pics of N63TU that went KABOOM (allegedly from low octane fuel - detonation that caused stuff to break) |

I don't remember the exact number, but that sounds similar to what I was quoted a year ago for the same 2 year extension on my 2016 50i. I declined at the time.

I paid $2500 for 100k 6 year warranty extension on a used 3.5. It had 4500 miles on it and the dealer stopped CPOing their cars to offer lower prices on web and then they would offer their own warranty which is better than CPO.

I commented on another post about this also...still debating. I don't think my dealer offered a warranty past 2 years (additional on top of the 4 year warranty). Might have to explore other dealers and see what they offer.

That's the same price I got quote from Park Ave BMW. $6,279 7yr/100k Plat. and $5,719 7yr/100k Gold. I never knew it was concurrent. 7 yrs is really 4yrs Plus 3 yrs extension and 100k Miles is really only an extra 50K miles. SMDH So that means 3 yrs and 50k miles for $5719 - $6279?! Yikes.

I just got a 2015 35 with 17k miles on it. The CPO runs for 2 more years. They offered another year (they would call that 7 year extended for $2700). So I'm paying $2700 for just one year of coverage. Eff that. I told my sales guy that's insane he replies "yes it is insane. BMW really doesn't want to cover the cars anymore so they are pricing it very high"
So if I have less than $2700 in repairs specifically between years 6 and 7 (from original in service date I come out ahead) |

So damn expensive these extended warranties.
Would finding a trustworthy independent mechanic be better worth it? My 4 year factory warranty will expire in 10 months so I'm already starting to think about this.

Quote for extended warranty
I have a 2016 X5 50i with 47,000 miles on it which I purchased in November 2015. The quote I received from my local BMW dealership for the platinum plan is $5,555. After much debate about stashing this money aside and just use it when a repair is needed vs. this expensive insurance policy, I decided to buy the extended warranty. I just don't want any major headaches and, of course my check engine light just turned on and the dreaded "drivetrain malfunction; drive slowly" popped up. That sealed the deal...

are quotes for the extended warranty higher than the 35i?
have plenty of time left on my warranty but if the prices are going to go up further I might as well try to buy it now. If you don't use the extended warranty at all do you get a refund on it? On my previous car, you could get a pro-rated refund for time not used, which I did when I canceled the ext warranty after trading it in for the X5.

I picked up a Continental warranty through my local bmw dealership which covers mostly everything. 60 additional months and 60k additional miles for 5k after taxes for a 2015 xdrive50i with 64k miles on the odometer.

Wow, that's a killer deal. Is it an exclusionary warranty?

No, it pretty much covers all. I know the regional bmw vp who gave me a great deal. I had to ask 3 different times to make sure I was hearing it right thst it was additional months and not total. But sure enough, this car will be covered till 2023 and 124k miles which is crazy to me. Additionally, the dealership will help with the claims since I purchased through them so it's great to have a middle man I can talk to in person vs those 3rd party warranties thay you only can call.

I reached out to five dealerships and no one got back to me with extended warranty quotes. Really seems BMW is not wanting us to buy warranties, but rather keep buying newer vehicles.

If you have an xdrive50 I think some of the quotes are so ridiculous that they probably don't even figure it's worth their time because no one is going to buy one. I think through a different warranty company bmw uses they said it was 12k for the warranty, ha.
