6WB on 2018 40e?

Does anyone know if the 6WB (Digital dashboard) is available on the 2018 40e in the U.S.? What about the 35d?

Last edited by xweb10; 11-20-2017 at 05:15 PM.. Reason: Added "U.S." clarification.

Can only say for sure because I’m looking , the 35i 6wb is available, but only with the executive package. Can not buy it as a stand alone

Weird that it's not available on the 40e...I just ordered my 2018 40e and coming out of 15 X6 which had the digital gauge. Honestly, I don't even care about it anymore, it was cool the first few weeks then you don't pay attention to it anymore especially if you have heads up display

Not available on 40e even with executive package. Not sure what is the reasoning behind it.

Picking up custom order 40e next week. arrived at dealer last week but I'm travelling for work this week.

Thanks. It is odd that it is not available on the 40e. I may lean towards a new 35d so something is different from my 15 35d.

Insane. I wish, I would love to actually speak with someone at BMW and ask them why their plug in electric hybrid 2018 40e is not available with the digital dash, but their fossil fuel only 35i, 50i and 35d can be had with digital!!!!! SMH!

Also, the F15 X5 should have been made all digital, like BMW did with the X6. It always seemed strange that X5 and X6 have different gauges. I will say though, I LOVE the 1/2 analog, 1/2 digital on my '17 X5. Best of both worlds!

I would got 35d is I drove mostly highway and 40e if mostly short distance in residential traffic. I prefer the analog dash and coding in HUD turn signals.

I'm not sure either, but it probably has something to do with the programming - the digital cluster doesn't have the extra coding or they just didn't bother to add them in.
It's the same deal for the X5M, I don't believe they have the digital cluster either, has to do with the extra stuff that pops up when shifting and other options that aren't otherwise available in the rest of the X5/X6 line.

///M vehicles require special cluster for M-HUD mode. But, F90 gets digital cluster as well as G30 530e and G12 740e.

Funny thing is, my commute is roughly 5 miles a day. 40e is perfect for me, but the 35d treated me right for the past 3 years. If I am going to stay with an X5, I need something different to look at. I figure the instrument cluster being digital will make it look new to me

... Or maybe I'll get a 40e with MSport package (I have X-Line now) and that will be the difference.

I have 12 mile commute so I went with 40e. I have HUD, so never look at dash; to each their own. Either way you also get ID5/ID6 for something new.

True... Does the 40e have as much "guts", as the 35d?

I never drove any of the F15 diesel models, so cannot compare. It has the same HP as a 535i with the electric boost.

I had a '17 40e for 6 months. With battery power and the twin turbo 4 cyl. working together, the 40e is shockingly quick..but it does not feel strong or robust (if that makes sense). W/o the battery (which depletes stupidly quick)...the 4 cyl. gas engine is not really bad on it's own, but IMO, it sounds like utter shit. Big, heavy X5 with a 4 cyl. engine.

The 40e always made me feel like I was driving a really, loaded and highly optioned Toyota Camry with a 4 cyl. engine. Anyone who has driven a "nice" Camry or Accord knows the sound, and feeling. When heavy accelerating in the 40e, it sounded and felt like a 4 cyl Camry really trying. Hated that!!!!

Thanks for the details. I love the diesel torque so I may need to go that route again.

'18 40e doesn't have 6WB.

I saw 5-series and 7-series e iPerformance come with the newer digital cluster, more advanced than 6WB?

There are two different digital clusters. 6WB is full, rather than hybrid. Neither is very advanced.

Well, this may help explain why MY18 F15 40e doesn’t get the digital one. BMW will leave the one currently in 5/7-series’ for MY19’s e iPerformance.

the 6wb isnt available for the 40e because bmw didn't want to update the cluster and add the e-options.

So its possible to put a 6wb in a f15 40e but then it would work as in a petrol or diesel car so without the batterylevel, batterycomsuption, ...
