Surround View Cameras calibration

Ive been wondering this for a while now.
Does anyone know if the surround view cameras on our f15s need to be calibrated? mine seem to have developed a blind spot right beside the rear axle when i recall i used to be able to see everything. Happened right after i coded some unrelated things to my HU-NBT module and gauge display.

Could anyone else let me know if they too have blind spots behind or even beside the rear axle on the side cameras (mounted on the mirrors)?

I also read somewhere that they are auto-calibrated by driving around on painted lanes and roads but i dont really see how...

Our X5 surround is deplorable compared to our others. Then again, our Escalade's reverse camera at night is almost worthless. Funny things can vary so much depending on the manufacturer.

Sorry though, I don't know anything about calibrating these, or if they even have an option to do so.

you should see what Range Rover has on a $120k vehicle. it looks like i am looking under water. everything is condensed, blurry and has a blue hue over it.

Yes they can be finely calibrated. The dealer did it once for me since they were not lining up.

If you upgrade your f15 software, you will need simple overall recalibration that can just be launched from rheingold also. takes 5 minutes.

I am not sure if BMW is similar to Audi however Audi recommends and includes rear and surround view cameras to be aligned when performing wheel alignment. It ensures all the features are operating in unison and displaying as intended along with the way they were designed. This may be the case with BMW as well but speak with service advisor to see what they recommend or if it can be covered under warranty or maintenance plan.

Yeah our last Range Rover was the full size Supercharged and it's reverse camera was about as worthless as the navigation system. But the S/C screamed and the beast rarely gave us an issue.

Still miss her though!

And definitely there's a new LWB version in our near future. That or my wife will leave me for someone more British. Church of England lives on in America, 2nd generation Oregonian-to-Texan. But prefer to be in Windsor.

The only thing more useless than the RVC is the "surround view" because it then condensed the displayed into four useless displays that do not do anything. This was built on archaic tech pulled out of the older Jaguar vehicles and done only to stay current/relevant by saying they offer it.

I have a deposit on the new full size but contemplating pulling it and going with the new '18 e63 (s213) or roll the dice on another X5M.

Sometimes a camera must be reinitialised.

For this reason, a new calibration of the affected camera must be triggered.

The affected camera is calibrated automatically in the background during the journey.

So that a new calibration can be triggered successfully and quickly, ideally, the following must be observed:

Top rear side view camera must not be activated.
Calibration is possible only in daylight.
Driving speed of 15 to 25 km/h.
Hold steering wheel straight.
Clean camera lenses.
Duration until first valid calibration about 15 minutes.
Use a dry, even road for the journey for the calibration.

Check whether the re-calibration has been successfully initiated:

Stop the vehicle.
Press the camera button on the centre console.

If a white triangle can be seen in the upper corners of the display, then the calibration was successful.
So these things auto calibrate with the road... brilliant.

Followed instructions and cleaned every lens, then drove around a highway to work and my cameras are now working perfectly! Thanks a lot!

Is it normal for the front camera on X5 to be obstructed on the left and right sides by reflections from the chrome kidney ribs?

If the sun or bright light pointed at the right angle, may be but not common IMO.
