What do you mean you used it once or twice???

Night vision works all the time the headlights are on, it has nothing to do with when you activate the IR image on the screen...
I'm sure he meant switched the screen on...geez

Night vision works and it is useful whether you turn on the image on the screen or not. The idea is not to distract you from driving, but to warn you of dangers on the road, and it does warn you even if the screen is off.

I've watched youtube videos but they only show the iDrive screen nothing else in terms of alerts. HUD receives and displays alerts?

Yes. It behaves similar to the camera warning about pedestrians in daytime, but night vision does it at night. And, if you have dynamic spot lights instead of fog lights, it points the lights to the dangers and flashes.

Yeah, but not in the US spec F15s.HBA with the dynamic spots are disabled.

The options I added were: Comfort Seats, Digital dash, Speed limit display, High beam assist & tinted windows, you get a high spec of kit included with the X5 so no need to add many options

In the US the spotlight is not an option only the night vision assist. I asked if it can be retrofitted to have the spotlight but no one knows for certain and I do not want to purchase two spotlights and waste money on labor to find out it may not work.

+1 to this list
I would add; Cold Weather Package as well. Even if you don't need it where you live, it can assist in resale.
