Talking Flashed Bootmod3 map to my 50i

I flashed the 50i tonight using the bm3 software... It's whole different animal now . Didn't get to drive it too much after the install but initial impressions are excellent. I was able to get on the gas in comfort, sport and sport+ but for short intervals. Longest was in sport mode and it launched me from 45 to 80 in a heartbeat. The amount of torque is incredible . I didn't get on it from a stop only from a roll. I'll have more input tomorrow after I drive it on the interstate and get a few digs in from a stop. Very impressed with this tune and, while the install wasn't seamless, the online support was excellent. More to come...

How difficult is it to roll it back to stock if you need to take it in for service?

I'll try it tomorrow but it shouldn't take more than 10 minutes. I have a service appt. on Monday and will need to flash it back before then.

Would love to hear more about this option. Considering some of the other N63tu stage 1 tunes out there and want to understand how this compares to those. Do you know if anyone else has dynoed this tune through Bootmod?

I'm not sure but being able to switch back and forth from stock to a tune in minutes will make it easy to get same day/same hour before and after dyno results. YES... that was quite a run on sentence.

Have spoken to one who does flash tunes and happens to be a member of this forum: they told me not to switch back and forth as it's not recommended for the engine.
Wanted to switch to stock during the winter, i. e. half the year up here!
BTW, for 35ers who happen to have MPKK : tune flash will flush it down the drain

Yep, there's no need to pay $1000 for MPKK with this tune. You will get most of its features (exhaust burbles) for example. Also if you install a Down pipe It will clear the CEL for you and can also remove the top speed limiter! A flash tune is truly all you need.

It's tough to do apart from $1200 you paid man!
Am entertaining the idea, but spending another 2K for flash tune + downpipe -and wipe out 1200 on top of it.

Yea, for me its good that I have waited and didn't get MPPK. From the beginning I didn't like the value of this $1200 factory tune, since I can get more power for a fraction of the price.

I used to switch maps all the time on my 335i, for several years. What would it do to the engine besides have to re-adapt?

This is what I wrote them...

"Last thing... I've a service appointment on Monday. Is it not a good idea to flash back and forth from stock to the tune. Someone had mentioned on one of the forums that their tuner using bm3 said it wasn't good for the engine. I just wanted to get some clarity on this. Not to mention I don't want the girlfriend driving it with the tune in it."

Here is their response...

"Lol, that is wrong.
If you did your OBD unlock you can click your stock tune and hit flash and lock. That will make it 100% stock and remove unlock."

So is it really as easy as one click?
Asking cause another vendor told me that you'd need the reverse process to undo...i.e. hit start button, w/o starting engine, connect ODB, select stock file etc...that process is not that simple, albeit not reinventing the wheel either.

Yup, it should be the exact same time.
I am intrigued by your tune.
May reach out via PM for more details on the whole process.

lol $1200. Oh man. Put bm3 50i next to a RC 50i and tell me how much the bm3 won by (if at all) and then maybe. I do like if it's that easy to switch back to stock and so on but it's not that much longer to unplug everything. Shoot on my last service all I do was put in dummy plug and hide the RC cables. Trust me if the dealer mechanics ain't looking for it they won't find it. They're like cattle for the slaughter. Now if I had warranty engine work or something else then sure I'm not gonna risk that.

Idk I guess that's just me.
