2018 X6 is missing trunk kick opening and cross traffic alert that 2015 model had

I had a 2015 X6 xDrive with Premium package, DA, and DA+.
It had that foot swipe/kick to open the trunk/tailgate.
Also, it included a (front) cross traffic alert. When pulling from an ally into a street, it would beep for cross traffic cars.
I recently got a 2018 X6 sDrive with Premium package, DA, DA+, and Parking assistance.
Now on this 2018 model, there is no audible alert at all. Seems that you need to press the camera button, and it would display the yellow triangles which i think the older model also had.
In addition, the new 2018 does not have the kick open working...(service at dealer claim it does not come with this option)
That is very misleading. Why would BMW remove features without telling pretty much while increasing the price of the car every year by about $1000.
Again, the 2018 has same packages (and parking assist) as the 2015.

If anyone has more info on it, please chime in.

I have X6 msport 2018 and I have all what you saying is missing/not working...that's pretty strange as it came as a standard and not optional items!

I find it strange that the X5 and X6 don't have the kick open trunk. My 2018 doesn't have it and as far as I know it's not an option. My mom's X1 has it...

What is even more peculiar is that the BMW demonstration videos state the X5 has this feature but none of mine did despite having nearly every possible option.

My point was that these "features" were on a 2015 model, but are not on the 2018 model. considering the X6 was NOT redesigned since 2015 (F16), means it is same car with just new iDrive.

Kokiiiz mentioned having these things but he has MSport package...maybe that has something to do with it. However, in my case, neither the 2015 nor the 2018 are MSport package.

iconoclast, your attached video shows X1 model...

I have a 2018 M Sport with Comfort Access and do not have it. The exhaust can is where I'm assuming the sensor would mount.

Yes I do and while I was ordering my car I asked the dealer to include it, he said it is going to come as part of comfort access package...so not sure why your doesn't have but it's weird as also my friend got another 2017 X6 msport (through another dealer) and it also came with the car

My 18 X6 has the hands free trunk. I don't think I have the traffic alert.

It shows an F15 in the video after the Demonstrator states "for all X models".
Tell me what you see at the 45 seconds mark.

My MY15 X5 doesn't seem to have it even though I have comfort access and soft close doors. Maybe I didn't "kick the butt" correctly?

Seems like X5 doesn't have freehand access on the tailgate.

I think the X6 has two separate mufflers? does the sensor sit between them?

To me it looks like X1. You can see "X1" when the door closes.
I think X5 having the bottom part door may have to do with that...
X6 tailgate is a one piece tailgate.

Wavy, Do you have the MSport package?

Another interesting find about the parking package. According to bmwusa site under parking assistant states: "Blue arrows indicate if parking is available on the left or right side of the road, while also taking care of steering as you select the correct gear and control the accelerator and brake."

However, I tried it, and looks like I do NOT have to select any gear or control the gas/brake. It does 100% of it.... so the description is NOT correct.

My old 2015 had same mufflers as 2018 and had the feature.
Only thing they changed is the muffler ends from round to trapezoidal.

It's not an X1, look at the side profile shot. The car pictured has the side vent. X1s do not have it.

At the 45seconds mark when they state X models have taller ride height and bumpers then show an f15 X5:

Can someone show what the sensor looks like from underneath? I can crawl underneath and see if I have said sensor. I have comfort access and soft close doors on my 2015 M-sport and it would be pretty sweet to have this feature.

When we got our 2015 F15, we were told that we could either have the M-Sports package or the touch less foot sensor but not both because of something with the bumper...

X5 does not have foot opening of the tailgate due to the split door design. X6 has it as optional.
