Those in Ontario would also qualify for the PHEV rebate of approx. $6,300 on the 40e. So it's a great discount but too bad doesn't come with 3rd row seats!

Is it "after" you purchase the vehicle and then call for a rebate, or is it calculated "before" taxes on the vehicle and then outstanding incorporated into the financing/leasing scheme of things? Because that could two very different scenarios... |

dealer says the first month of production on 40e will be launch editions so we would not be able to amend them. Also note that the 40e will have mechanical steering not the electronic power steering.
Therefore, Active Steering are not an option on it. However, the 2VM which comes in for $1,800 option on 35i, 50i and 35d is included which is a plus. I'm still not 100% sure if we should go with the first series of a vehicle line...there's always something wrong with something! |

So the 35i has been built last week and is awaiting distribution and shipping I suppose. I wish it had a 35d on it, instead of 35i.
I'm waiting to hear from the dealer next week how the 2016 diesel allocations for January look like. If we can place the order in December to take delivery late december or early January, then I think Diesel will be the choice. Unless they shoot us further back. |

You get a 2016 model only 1-2 months later than you would have picked up your 2015 model. AND its a diesel, more torque, much better gas mileage. Its a WIN-WIN as far as I can see it..

Yes, everything is leaning towards this scenario...pretty much depends on dealer's allocation...I can already see they might be strategically creating bottlenecks on diesel so that we just go with the 35i at hand.

I almost never had that issue with my X5 Diesel. In 4 years, we had ONE issue finding a Diesel pump. But with 600 miles range, not a biggie.

One major point to consider is that 40e charges best with 220/240V level II chargers. It even mentions in this guide that an "occasional" charging with Level I 120V is ok. Thich would mean two things: having an electrical 240 to be wired up in your garage + plus the $1,500-$2,000 charger to be purchased and installed.
I'm also looking at the young age of hybrid vehicles especially the PHEV's and I do foresee some rapid changes and improvements coming forth soon...and the thing with too much tech in one basket makes the previous champ look like chimp and obsolete in no time... |

You can get up to $1,000 off for installing level 2 charging in your garage (Ontario).

Installation may vary depending on the depth and length of the wiring required...sometimes they may have to run a 240 from your laundry room to the garage which is close, sometimes far...installation is also not cheap. and some of those brands listed, you want to stay away from them as far as possible... |
