Lost all my profile settings - wtf?

Has this happened to anyone else?

Get in the car the other day and notice my driver profile name isn't showing up - reverted back to "driver 1". No big deal, except the system lost ALL of my settings. I'm talking seat position, steering wheel, mirrors, no bluetooth connection with my phone, and my M1 and M2 button settings. Same for my wife's key and profile as well. Kind of pissed as I had everything the way I wanted it.

I've never coded anything on this car. My guess is an OTA update erased my profile settings?

I had a similar experience within my first couple months of ownership. I can't remember the exact circumstances but I think it had something to do with a manual software update that I applied from the iDrive menu. I re-configured my user preferences afterwards and haven't had any issues since.

No, I didn't switch keys. It lost both profiles, and I did backup the new ones to usb in case this happens again. As someone in the technology field I find it odd that the configuration files would need to be wiped just for a code update...seems like poor appdev.

They do not have to be wiped if backup profile box is checked.

Hey guys, quick question on profiles, is there a way to change the default setting to sport sport sport or do I have to program one of the M buttons for this? My M1 is set for 3+ and I don't use M2 much so could use M2 for this but I wonder if there is a way to just change the base setting. I haven't had a chance to go through the manual for this. Thanks!

I have no idea what triple sport is, but yes, you can set default driving mode in any vehicle with BDC_Body.
