Either buy the F85 spare wheel or if i get a flat up front I would have to swap my back wheel to the front and put the spare in the back. I believe the spare fits over the MPBK rear brakes but i'll need to confirm once everything is installed.

I'd recommend the F85 spare. Even though it cost more money that way, if you're caught on a rainy night or on the middle of the highway, that extra work of shifting a wheel doesn't sounds fun.
Can you run a spacer on the F15 spare? I'm pretty sure I saw someone on the 5 series forum mention using a e60 spare with a spacer to fit the F10. |

I have spacers on the car but I believe that the issue with the stock spare isn't that but rather the diameter of the wheel isn't big enough to clear the calipers. I will test it out and takes pics once my kit is on. Hard to justify the F85 spare cost because in my 20 years of driving i've never needed to use my spare but......now that i said that I am going to have a massive blow out this weekend...

Going with the 4 piston M Performance brake setup but with F85 cross drilled rotors. The m performance brake kit is a bargain considering it comes with the same size brakes in the back and calipers as the F85. Putting all the F85 components together seperately will cost a lot more money.

LOL I would have went space grey but my last two bmws were both space grey. Prior to that I did have a alpine white 335 though
Next BMW will likely be something Individual color. Not really digging the color choices of recent BMW's. I really like blues and BMW has a lot of nice shades of it (Monti carlo, Le mans, Avus, Interlagos, Santorini etc..) in the past but recent baby blue stuff doesn't do it for me. Alan

based on your post I yust ordered the rotors from the F85 from my BMW dealer. On my 50i I have M Performance Brake Kit installed. The M Performance rear brake is exactly the same of the F85 rear brake. Based on the parts catalog. But are you sure that the F85 front rotor will exactly fit with the 4 piston M performance calliper ? Thanks for info! Marcus |

@bond77 , I did the research for Alan.
Based on the parts catalog, the F85/F86 rotor is the same diameter and thickness as the F15/F16 MPBK or E70/E71 X5M/X6M stock brakes.

Yes, Ben was very helpful to confirm this for me.
I also confirmed with my local bmw parts dept who the size/dimensions are the same but I will know for certain once I have both sets of rotors in front of me. I know the E70 X5 guys could also swap to the X5M brakes as a direct bolt on. Basically the rotor size between the E70 X5M, F15 MPBK, F85 X5M front brakes all have the same size rotors front and rear. Alan

Thanks Ben and Alan!
The same is written in the F85 F86 training documentation, I have seen today. "Compared with the E7X M the disc brake has the same dimensions, but the friction ring thicknesses and cooling ducts of the brake discs have been M-specifically optimized." We will see details after installation! Best regards Marcus |

Can't believe I'm saying this, but that is a gorgeous piece of metal!
But 50 lbs each!!?! holy cow. I wonder what the stock rotors weigh ? Is adding so much weight to each wheel really a good idea ? |

I wouldn't be surprised if the stock rotors are just as heavy. The X5M rotors are larger but they are also 2 piece with a aluminum hat where as the stock unit is a one piece cast iron unit.
