2015 BMW X5 35d Brake/Rotor Surprise
I bought my BMW 2 years ago with 85k on it. The front and rear brakes/rotors were done by BMW just before I bought it. I was surprised to see both front rotors had extreme gouging on the inside of both of them. I thought I was just going to get away with a pad change.
I currently have 129k on my X5 with normal mixed city and highway driving. I am also very easy on brakes. So again, I was surprised with the rotor condition. |

I was going to say the same. Especially if the X5 sits outside regularly.
I'm doing the wifes X5d in the very near future so I'll be sure to post what they come off looking like. 91k miles, previous services had been pad slaps I believe. Will know more when I service. |

Just did my first rear swap at 70k miles. Rotors looked like your outer finish on both sides. Not the way your inner side looks. That looks awful.

If the brakes were done on the dealers/bmws dime then more than likely they just added new pads and reused the rotors if they were still in spec. I warranty brake job is usually just a pad slap

Same conditions on mine around 35k and sitting outside… I’m thinking to swap with like Bosch or any other with coating and may be calipers, but original pads. So much rust around the rotors and rears are going 2x compared to the fronts because of auto-hold…
