DME Unlock

For those who’s dme was locked due to March 2019 update, have you had your dme unlocked? I know with time, new techniques have developed. Do they still require you to physically remove the dme in order to perform the unlock?
Suggestion for shops on the east coast would be greatly appreciated.

In for this I've been waiting for a dme unlock but not sure if I want to pay ~$200-$300 to get it unlocked
Was hoping and waiting for bm3 to have a solution to this so I can start tuning but still playing the waiting game

Check out twisted tuning in NY. They charge $100 plus shipping. I know still not an idea option since you have to remove dme but closer to you than shipping to Sweden.

Yeah I checked other bmw forums with n55 and other engines that got the lock, and they have been waiting for the unlock for a while now. Not sure how invested bm3 is with it.
Again unlock exists, but people are waiting for it to be through the OBD2 port, without taking anything apart.

Yea that includes me twisted tuning is maybe 30-45 minutes from me but I was told it would cost around $800-$900 for everything so I said I'll hold off until bm3 finds the patch to unlock it through obd

Trying to remember where the dme's are located.
Are they by the turbos or by the front grills by the intake tubes?

They are located on the passenger side directly under the fresh air filters, close to the windshield. Remove the passenger side cover, then the cabin filter cover, you'll find the two DME's directly below the power module.
