Any updates on the Carbotech 1521 pads? I've taken my car in twice to resolve the break squeal but it keeps coming back. It's really annoying when the squealing is equivalent to a big truck stopping.

My squeal is out of control now. Noticed the dirtier the car the worst it is. High speed low speed doesn't matter. The noise is ridiculous

my "solution" has been working pretty well, but it's a bit of a pain. I'll give the brake pedal a few good stomps from a decent speed, which helps for a 100 miles or so, and also as someone else noticed the more brake dust is around the worse it seems like it is. So I guess clean the wheels when you can? It's still a pain, but haven't heard of any other solutions, including pad replacement yet, that kill the squeal.

Are others who have had the pads grounded down also getting the squeak again?

my car went in 3 times for services and I complaint it to 3 different SA, and they all know the squeal but can't offer a fix for me. I can't get over it, it's embarassing when driving by a parking lot with people walking, I have to learn to brake less...

For what it's worth, I have 1300 miles on my car without any squeal at all. I bedded the brakes immediately, on the trip home from the dealer. Hopefully they'll stay silent.

25,000 km now on my X5 M and never a single brakes squeal - I am curious if other European users have the same luck: if yes, maybe Europeans have different brake pads for regulatory or whatever reason and using them may solve this very unpleasant problem?
Just wondering... |

My dealer replaced my pads, rotors, hub bearing, and calipers. All brake squeal are now officially gone and no more clicking bearing sound.

So just to revisit this, my brakes still squeak. Had them chamferred once, went away for like 200 miles and came back again. I also got the Disc Italia brake pads but never installed them and at this point might not bc I only have two years left on the lease.
I have to say, I think Im kind of getting used to the squeak, with proper pressure on the brake, u can control it somewhat to squeak briefly right before a full stop. To be honest, after driving the F85 on a couple long trips, the thing is pretty spectacular. The utility of being able to haul people and stuff comfortably with that type of power and handling is fun as sht. I had previously said I'm done with BMW, but u never know, that G X5M may be calling my wife's (and my) name in a couple years.

Speed up and brake hard. Don't ride your brakes as they will make it squeal more and more.

And yes, I've done everything including slamming the brakes at highway speed. It's a six figure luxury sport car, it should not squeal and click.

Now with nearly 7K on the odometer the brakes don't click but they squeal like a pig right before coming to a completely stop. Once i hear it i can modulate the pedal to minimize the duration of the squeal somewhat. Between this and my loud exhaust people can hear me from blocks away lol. Somewhat annoying but doesn't bother me that much considering the capabilities of this beast.

I think that the brake noise has to do with how built up is your dust on the rotors. I was my X5M once a week and when I clean each wheel, I spend a good time cleaning the brakes too. Make sure that there is no dust accumulated in the holes of the face of the rotor. Also make sure you do not have dust on the sliders of the pads on the rears. And when I drive the X and the wheels are getting dirty, before I drive it, I use my air compressor and blow the rotors really good. I find that by doing this, I either have no noise or slightly at best.

Pressure wash the rotors, a lot of black dust will come out, if you do this once a week while washing your car the noise is reduced. I honestly believe its the build-up of brake dust inside the holes of the rotors. Started doing this about 5k miles ago and rarely do I hear any brake noise.
