iDrive menu screen. One cool thing to note... the Media icon shows whatever album cover is currently playing from CarPlay (and I think from sat radio, as well). The small icon in the lower left of the screen is the CarPlay icon... You flip from the main menu to CarPlay by tapping that on the touch screen (or can navigate to CarPlay via iDrive through Media).

iDrive Navigation (notice you can have split screen between CarPlay and any iDrive function you want... Nav shown here):

CarPlay Home Screen:

Looks great! Thanks for the effort! It seems to me that navigation graphics is slightly different as well. I guess you can see it also in 3d perspective. HUD any differences? Again thanks for posting.

Yes, they said the navigation was a complete update... including maps and graphics. It does do 3D... you can add buildings, etc. Haven't really played around with that, though.

Not sure if there are any differences on the HUD as I'm not sure what was standard before... but there is a LOT of information presented on the windshield, I do know that! Was hoping they would correct the issue with polarized sunglasses, but no significant improvement there. It does have the ability to rotate the HUD image, which is supposed to help with polarized lenses, but I haven't found it to be too effective. Not sure if that is a new feature....?

Michelins! I was curious to find out, but glad it came with PSSs. Love them.

Thanks. Moving HUD is an old feature. Enjoy your ride!

Yes, I was told it is 4G/LTE. I have not tested it, though, so cannot verify speed.

No one has asked, but I thought I'd post a photo of the wireless charging dock in the center console, which is new for MY 2017. Of course, Apple doesn't support wireless charging (yet). But we tried it with the BMW Genius's Samsung and it worked great.

I believe it is actually slightly larger... the new screen is 10.25", up from 10.21" (if memory serves). I can't comment on shape...

In the 2015/2016 X5 M in the center console there was a swing arm that provided a place for a phone snap-in adapter. Is that removed in the 2017 models? Is all that's now in the center console that wireless charging clip, and maybe a usb port?

Correct! I was happy to see that arm with the cradle removed for 2017. I found it to be useless and always in the way! There are USB and AUX ports in the center console (I believe the same as before) along with the wireless charging clip. There is also a USB port on the lower dash, right above the cup holders. Not sure if that is new in '17....?

Well, that makes one of us happy, and it's not me.... I love the arm, and have used a snap-in adapter for years now. It definitely increases the signal strength. Do you know if the wireless charging thing has a signal amplifier to gain access to the roof antenna, or did they take that feature away, altogether?

Yes it does. Even if your phone is not able to be wireless charged, placing it in that hub uses the cars antenna so you get better signal. No need for the old adapters.
