2017 Apple Car play question.

Hey gang, im looking at picking up a 17 f85. It has all the options I want minus apple car play, I drive a lot and would hate to not have this option. I know 17-18's come with the newer idrive, so my question is how can you add apple car play to a car that didnt have that option from the factory? Can it be coded in? Or can you order something to add it?

I believe you can purchase Apple Car play from the BMW Store. Go to the bmwusa website and create an account. From there you want to find the ConnectedDrive store. It's within that site you'll be able to purchase Apple car play. It should provide you with info once you enter the vin number.

I have a 2018 X5M and purchased my Apple Car play online a while back. Although it's a 2018 the car is a 2017 build. I'm including a screen shot of the cars I believe are compatible. I also purchased the connected drive package which is $120 a year. I've had it for a few years now.

If you can’t add CarPlay, which I’m sure you can in ‘17 plus, you can always retrofit it for $800 or so…

I believe in a ‘17 the hardware is there, you just have to get it coded to be enabled. I had mine done remotely by a person I found on the forum.
