Does your tailgate always use soft close?
Hi all,
When closing the rear tailgate (top) and it latches, does the soft close feature always enable and suck it in? Thank you! |

I was wondering what year your X5 is, as I have soft close doors but ever since I have had the car the upper tailgate has closed with a solid slam.
It has always bothered me a little, never enough to talk about until I read your post. 2016 X5 soft close, comfort access |

The tail gate soft close is not so soft closing... Definetly not as soft as the doors anyway... It has to do with the weight of the tail gate. A sedan car with a classic trunk and soft close does close much more quieter.

I tried pulling the hatch door down manually just now and it wasn't nearly as noisy compared to closing using a button. Maybe the power closing motor is a little undersized for the weight of the hatch. Probably sized to simply get the job done rather than being sized to get the job done more elegantly. Unless maybe there's a setting somewhere that controls how much force the motor uses to pull the door down vs being able resist the hatch weight when gravity is at play near the end of the cycle? |
