M performance Front lip/splitter
I got my f15 2 weeks ago and ordered the front lip/splitter. The front lip came in Monday but the dealership i went to told me they have to wait for the glue to come in before they install it.I am wondering if you can safely install this without using that specific bmw glue and just use industrial double sided tape and and all the harness/brackets that came with it.

Wait for beta link. But it will be permanent. 3M should be able to but Id remove the bumper to let it bond correctly.

Do it right with the k2 beta link adhesive. Unless you are using another type of heavy duty spread on type of product, I doubt you will be able to mold tape style adhesive properly to affix the support frame and cf panels themselves.

I've always used the 3M moulding tape on all of my spoilers and they have never gotten loose. If anything its a pain to remove because it holds so strong. You need the grey/black 3M tape with the red backing. I don't like using betalink since its permanent. I don't think there is any way to remove it without damaging the paint.

Im totally excited that your on this thread, you know i base my setups from your research. Still contemplating on glue or double sided, the dealer charge me for the labor install already, if i decide to just pullout my lip from them and do it somewhere else, is there a good place in jersey/ny to have this installed? The dealer said it will be a 5-6 hour job, not including the drying period, i was like thats only brackets and harness plus the glue/tape. Should i just do it somewhere? |

5-6 hours of labor seems way excessive. I am assuming there is no cutting and its just bolt/glued on. Hard for me to comment since i don't have a F15 yet but I will be getting some of these pieces when I do and I will be installing it myself with 3M tape.
Honestly any reputable body shop could install these pieces for you easily. Fitment should be 100% spot on which is the beauty of oem parts. Alan

Normally I would have taken the car elsewhere or done the install myself, but having the dealer install the parts allowed them to be included under the factory warranty. At first they wanted to charge me 11 hours of labor!
