In my defense, I've had the car for two days and prior to that I had a E70 with 19" with lots of rubber protecting the wheels

Unfortunately with this restaurant, self parking is not available unless I went to the next building over and walked which is highly more inconvenient. All of the "front row" parking at their driveway was already taken when we arrived with the typical "luxury" cars filling up the entrance so I didn't try to have them park the X5 there knowing that it was going inside their underground parking. The restaurant is a decent place but it's not like one of those celebrity hot spots.

You guys bring up a good point, maybe they did park it on the street somewhere. However, I kind of doubt it as I've never seen a vehicle come from the street for valet and this time as usual, the X5 came up from the their underground parking structure. My only thought is that there are some kind of dividers or curbs inside their parking structure like a gated entrance that they may have hit.

I spoke to both the restaurant manager and the valet manager. Today I submitted the official paperwork for the claim when I was finally able to connect to their claims dept. Before I start going too crazy and mad, I'll let them review the claim first and see if they make this right.

Last but definitely not least, they also damaged one of the rear tires somehow with the curb damage. I'm not even sure how something like this can happen in parking lot. It looks like it fell inside something as opposed to rubbing against a curb. This almost looks like a gash from hitting a pothole. (which I definitely have not hit with these wheels yet)

The valet guy probably rubbed the wheels on the curb to and from the underground garage. Depending on how cramped the garage, the valet miscalculated his turn to and from .... Sorry bud!

Again, I would never valet, unless I don't care for the car. The damage to the tire would put me over the top lol. I'd gladly walk a few blocks just so I know that no one drives my X5.

Keep us updated.

the marring on the tire is indicative of curbed wheel which was pinched against the concrete and then the tire slipped and the wheel got the remainder of the damage. it happens, life goes on. just get it repaired once the company agrees to pay for it.

why can't bmw design the wheels to be less wide for their particular tire sizes? this would allow more tire to stick out past rim edge.

I agree, as now it will unfortunately become a finger pointing game on who damaged the vehicle. I've heard enough horror stories about valet companies to bring me to the mindset of "I'll never valet my vehicle, no matter what it is." Simple fix on the wheels, here in Vancouver...the fix would be between $200-250.

Well, since you're local to L.A., I do know someone that has a mobile wheel repair service. I think he charges $50/wheel. Hopefully, you don't have to go that route but fyi, just in case. Wife did the same last year with a Taco Bell drive-thru

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind. Do they pull off the tires when they do these repairs? I've never had to repair a curbed rim before...

Haha. I'm the same way. Search YouTube and you will see exactly how they repair it.

the proper way to repair the wheel without imperfections would be to break them apart, repair, mount and balance again. the cheaper way is to keep it together and then either live with the minor imperfections and over-spray or begin to obsess about that rather than a "curbed" wheel.

To be honest, do you really want to spend that much on all 3 wheels? One day they will curb again and you will need to repair it. I've curbed my winter set up twice and one for my summer. You just forget about it after a week or two.
