X5e - Level 2 charging setting?
Hi there,
Just got my X5e last week and loving it so far. I've been able to find the Level 1 charging settings in iDrive and have been charging successfully using the supplied Level 1 charger at "Reduced" rate. No issues so far, and will probably go to Maximum rate at home when I can supervise for a few hours. I have access to a Level 2 charger at work, but can't find the settings for Level 2 charge rates in iDrive. Are they somewhere there? I've searched the manual and on-line and haven't been able to find anything. Many thanks!

There is no user setting for L2 charging. The X5 40e onboard charger maxes out at 3.7kW 16A. It will automatically pull electric current the car needs up to those limits. For residential L2 it's up to you to make sure the 240VAC house circuit can handle the continuous load. So at least rated for 20A intermittent load.
The L1 charge setting is for people who may not have a 120VAC circuit in the garage which has the capacity for the 12A continuous load (15A intermittent) of the OEM EVSE. If you do then just set it to Max. For commercial charging stations you will be fine to just plug in. They are able to provide much more power than the X5 needs. Typically they are 30A 208VAC or 240VAC.
