With options. I can see this fully loaded with factory CF parts at $84,500

You mean it doesn't come with mismatched wheels as an option???

We understand this is a camouflaged prototype, and obviously nothing is confirmed until the final reveal, but I'm not concerned with having "egg on my face" simply by commenting that I'm not feeling the wing. Our comments were in reference to the updated title of this Thread: Sporting a New Tailgate ("Sporty") Spoiler

Close-up view of the Bimmerpost photo appears to show this is a temporary aerodynamic modification BMW's Engineering team is testing on the track (below - it appears foam board has been attached with white duct tape?). It would seem wind tunnel testing may have shown some areas of turbulence for which they are testing some concepts to lessen its effect.

Even subtle changes can have huge effects on the fluid dynamics of a vehicle, especially at high speed (which the X3M and X3 M40i will both be able to reach), so it may be they are trying to decrease 'flow detachment' on the back side? If so, this could help to improve the Cd.

Looks aside, I suspect this is indeed all about the performance.

Interesting - G12 Style 629 21" wheels on the back of both test rigs. One in Liquid Black, the other in Orbit Grey.

Yes thou shalt never ever say anything negative about a BMW on this site...EVER. It's in camo a week before it's revealed and it has some weird spoiler hanging off the back with a headline saying it gets a new sporty spoiler. What are people supposed to think??

To be clear, the X3 M will not be revealed on Monday - only the standard X3 will. The X3 M is a year or more away from its official debut.

Oh man, this thing is seriously making me waiver from trying to a F80. Since BMW won't release a 340i wagon in the US, this is sounding like one heck of an alternative.

Since the m3 is so big now and bmw no longer focuses on steering feel and the driver car connection, taking the m3 formula and simply upsizing it to the x3m seems like a good move, since an x3 is far far more practical then the 3.

Personally I would take the x3m every time and I think it could actually do well. Really looking forward to see if they do a good job with this.

Don't read all of the screeching about halogen headlights and incandescent taillight bulbs on the G01 reveal thread, then. You'd think BMW was selling cars without seats or tires. As the owner of an F25 X3, I'm fine with bulbs going forward given that I just had to replace both tail lights because the LED strips failed and I had no running lights; brakes and turn signals worked fine, thanks to bulbs. The only upside is that I replaced them with euro-spec units with orange directionals -- something that would be more difficult or not possible if everything were LED.
