Beefing Up Exhaust Tips
About to stuff some 22's on her and want the rear end to look beefy. I got rid of the rear diaper and looks much better but the exhaust tips are lacking. I want to keep the stock rear valence so trapezoid tips are out. I guess I'm not digging the way the exhaust tips don't fill up the cut out space. Anyone tried running quad tips on an x-line rear? Not sure if it would fit without having to cut. I guess I could buy some larger tips. I'm thinking black might look good. Maybe even painting the stock tips black would help? Anyhow, I'm open for suggestions.

Inlet on the X5 is 2.8. Most offer 2.5 but can easily be stretched and welded to match the 2.8

Not saying this is the best solution for you but what I've done in the past is just order like $500 in tips from Summit Racing. Try a bunch of universal tips and then ship back the ones that dont work. I do they same thing with Macys.com

I was thinking the same thing. I think if they were brought in an inch or so would look great.

Make it so the empty space above the text is gone and it would be perfect. Should be pretty easy for the shop. Just cut and re-weld.

Damn it, you guys pointed out exactly what I thought! I felt like they stick out about 1-1.5" to far. My buddy and I installed them and it was a bitch because the inner diameter of the tips is 3" which I thought would fit but was to lose even when clamped down as far as possible. So we had to go to O'Reilly and find some coupling pieces. Existing tips were welded on so they were cut off. We finished installing the tips yesterday and did think to myself "they stick out a tad to far". I could tell my buddy was over it so we wrapped it up for the day. He did say we could shorten the coupling pieces to bring the tips in a tad. We will do that soon. It will require throwing my buddy some beer lol.
Fyi, tips were purchased from Aliexpress as they had the best price. Waited about a month for them to arrive though. 3" inner diameter and 4.5" outer diameter. Tips measure just over 6" in length it's the dry (aka matte) carbon fiber weave. |

I just bought 2 dual 4" tips by flow master. They should be here on Thursday. I love the quad look so I'm hoping they work. I was looking at those carbon ones as well but wasn't sure about them. They do look nice though.
