Goodwill Claim?

I finally got my car, yay! It is CPO till end of 2020 but I noticed front bumper has two different lower grilles. One is solid close and other is open. I asked the owner if he replaced them and said he never realized it till I pointed it out. Do you think I can make bmw make a CPO claim for both to be the same?

Search what? Just asking members if they had anything replaced that isn't normal to that car? I prefer opened grilles but I won't be taking it to same dealer last owner bought it from

The V8 cars have an oil cooler mounted behind the open grille on the passenger side. It's functional. You want that opening to be there, trust me.

I think you've been handed a priceless opportunity to personalize your X5. Take the driver's side grille out, and set it on your workbench. Grab a bottle of booze. Light a candle. Take an Xacto knife and heat it over the candle, then plunge the hot knife into the grille to cut out the parts of the "egg crate" so that it matches the passenger side. Every time you finish a cut, take a good slug off the bottle of booze. Then start on the next section. Make sure to capture this "surgery" on video...or at least take some photos of the finished product.

KIDDING!!!

I think the fact that the previous owner never even noticed the difference should serve as reassurance that you, too, will easily overcome your "grille asymmetry anxiety." You can't see it from the driver's seat, after all. Enjoy your new ride!

Lol that's so weird. I might just have bmw just replace driver side as good will to match. I personally think it looks stupid like wearing an eye patch over it. I never realized the 50i had one open and won't closed

I doubt they will replace it because it's the oem part for the car.

Wow.

Maybe I should buy the part and tell them to replace it since they will be doing 40k maintenance

You just answered your own question. And don't forget to factor in labor cost for your matching grille

Yes. Maybe I can sneak my way to have them replace it for free. It's bothering me so much now it's not same lol. I guess I'm just anal.

I'm skeptical that such a part even exists, at least for the M-Sport front fascia. If it did, it'd already be on our cars.

US car, 35i and 35d M Sport have both side closed grill.

50i M Sport only the passenger side open, while the driver side is open.

This grill is the most annoying parts out of the F15 X5.
Thus, I have been selling retrofit kit for them.

I don't know why bmw does these odd things. Probably to get money out of owners. I thought Audi was bad

I'm sure BMW has a very good reason for it. I read somewhere there is a sensitive part behind the closed grill side.
