Cy07's 2015 50i build thread with Hartge, and list of mods! Updated with Eibach set!!

I finally took delivery of my X5 last Friday in LA, the weekend in downtown LA was so much fun and the drive back to the bay was a blast as well. Luckily no rock chips on high way 5. I ordered the car on 08/3/2014, and took the delivery on 9/12/2014, hope this helps future buyer on the approx. time with the build.

So far

Hartge Classic 02 Wheels 22x10.5 front 22x12 rear powdercoating to black chrome
Hartge spacers 7mm front 14mm rear
M black grill
Suntek Clear bra
iND front reflector
BMS JB4 stage one
Carnon windows Tint
6WB instrument
M sport steering wheel swap
Stoptech BBK!
Eibach Pro Springs 25mm front 15mm rear

Enjoy the pics!

For the record, I dislike aftermarket wheels, regardless of how well-made they are or how much more they cost than original wheels. That said, your set is really an exception. That looks really nice.

Thanks a lot Matt! Your stamp of approval is always hard to come by and very welcomed! Took a long time searching and planning, the result was worth i!

hahaha....it doesn't scream "look at me". It actually looks like a BMW OEM upgrade. It fits the vehicle very well and works with your X Line alu.

Joke begins...I'd search for BMW wheel hubs that would fit them, to make the look more organic...Joke ends.

If I were to every buy aftermarket wheels, it would be something like those...again, nicely done.

Awesome job, Wei! It looks great!

Your Dark Graphite seems to give off a cool chameleon effect turning black then grey due to the lighting.

You are right! I have hard time telling BSM from Dark Graphite in direct sunlight, as they both give a greyish metallic tint to the color. Thanks for everything Omar, now the coding begins! I 'll probably need to mass pm you again.

Hansrobert, xLine looks great in your brown metallic too, awesome pictures and PCD pick up.

R33, Ben sorry go through so many emails and didn't pull the trigger on brakes. The stock rotor disk is so big already I honestly am quite surprised how they look with the wheels. Once I get better feedback on the stock brakes I will still want the M bbk eventually. Tcap can't said enough good things about you!

Thanks Chris, I think the polished silver look goes well with rest of the xline trim. I am happy to report that none of the silver trims on the car is chrome. They are all silver aluminum, including the exhaust tips.

I pick DG because I am too lazy for BSM lol.

Lol. I actually thought it was BSM in the first pics (in parking garage) so you get the best of both worlds.

It does go well and I forgot to mention how good the lower silver x-line trim looks with the grills blacked out. I usually like how those two go together on the x-line, wouldn't have thought it would look good without the matching grill but it does.

Yea Chris I thought it would be too busy on the front, and 50i grill is matte silver inside with chrome outer rims, which I dislike.

Plus black grill gives a much more aggressive look imo.

@cy07, no worries. You just got the car anyway. Enjoy it and start mod it again later.

Nice looking wheels cy07! That didn't take long either. Only took you a weekend to drive back from LA and put on new wheels, that's efficiency , lol.
Holy 22 in wheels, how are the ride on those ? And what size tires are they ?
I have 19 in RFT and I'm a bit surprised by how stiff the sidewalls are when going over bumps some times.
Very nice looking x5!

Lol One month is enough time to plan ahead!

Continental Cross Contact UHP 295/30/22 XL Front
Continental Cross Contact UHP 335/25/22 XL Rear

The ride difference is minimal compared to 20 451s as I now run non RFT performance tires.

I think these are as wide as you go on X5, this is what it looks like on street. Pardon for the quality.

Pretty bad ass. BTW I'm just over the bridge from you in Hayward. If I see this car around I'll know who it belongs to.

I'm so jealous of your rear. That looks like a beast . I now am definitely going to be getting a bigger rear staggered set down the road!

How's the handling with those larger rear tires?

I am going to develop some sort of a complex/envy soon when the replacement one arrives in a few weeks. You all have bigger wheels and tons of mods. @cy07 that looks like a tire set one would enjoy taking corners in around my neck of the woods.

Meanwhile the mod I am working on is wrapping the local toll bridge transponder in a leather wrap that mimics the Mocha Nappa, so that it is somewhat camouflaged when mounted on the windshield. <Joke begins> I am happy to post pictures of it <Joke ends>.

Not bad actually, and strangely enough I found myself not having gag impulse when I saw these. However Hartge really, really needs to hire a new designer or have the old one actually do some creative work, because it feels like they haven’t come up with anything new for ages…

This is true. I agree. They should be innovating the way HRE does.

Cobra, be sure to say hi when you do!

Opasha, Steering feels a bit heavier, and grips are good. I did drive a bit faster on high 5 through mountain side and it felt stable and stiffer. Just like you said going 22 didn't really change the ride quality. So far I am very happy with them. The width + spacers in the rear had me worried for a bit! but thanks to Bens inputs it turned out to be great!

Matt I think a camouflaged radar detector might be better than toll tag haha!

Arman, a lot of new designs from Hartge, AcS, Hamann I just don't care at all, so I stick with the classic. I think multi spoke wheels design look fantastic on f15, I was debating this set and Hamann anniversary evo for a long time haha.
