Towing Mode!?

Hello everybody!

I was speaking with a mechanic friend the other day and we had a discussion in what mode you should have the car when towing...Eco Pro, Comfort, Sport, Sport +... and wanted to see how you all do it...

I feel like when towing a 20ft trailer for example I place it in Eco Mode since the acceleration does not put so much stress on the car (my thinking) and the Distance control from the adaptive cruise control is much smoother...

On the other hand...I have placed it in Sport mode when I needed extra "pull" at the beginning and then placed it in eco pro mode when on the freeway...

When towing something small I usually leave it in comfort mode.

Here are a couple of things I was wondering...

Is there a mode that gives more or less wear on the car or does it really just depent how you are driving it?

Are there any other pro or cons that I am not considering?

Some shared thoughts would be appreciated.

I'll be using mostly comfort or sport.
Being in the Sierra Nevada range I have to maintain more control on narrower roads.

I thought it was in Sport Mode when using cruise control.

Nope I have ACC Stop and Go and you can switch modes.

On my 50i it can tow fine in any mode. On my wife's 35i, I find it benefits from sport mode to get moving, but once at speed comfort is fine.

Eco Pro mode can kiss my ass for all driving activities...

Weird...it does not switch to any mode by itself that's for sure ! I know the way the vehicle drives is way different depending on the mode you have your ACC + in...

The dash does not indicate a change in mode, but my car definitely drives like it was in Sport.

I change sport configuration to just chassis and then leave it in sport mode. This is with m adaptive suspension. I don't like it bouncing around.

Mine is a 2016 40, but that is from page 137 of the 2014 F15 Owner's Manual PDF.

Ah, context. That is a subset of the sport+ description. The way I read it is that it will switch to sport if you are already in sport+ and then activate cruise control.

Can't say for sure on the 40e, though.
