Not sure if you have a 35i or 50i but it sounds like you have a 35i which just means the right valve is closed. Its basically only opens at high RPMs i think about 3500-4000s

Yes.
The muffler has a valve on the right exhaust which is closed at low rpm. This increases the exhaust pressure at low rpm which increases the velocity of the exhaust, keeping the engine cool and increasing performance. I think it also helps turbo spool because it does not slow down as much between gears. When the car is under WOT or high rpm the valve opens in an effort to have a consistent exhaust back pressure so to not decrease performance (that is more exhaust is produced but it leaves the system at the same speed). Such a simple idea can do wonders for mileage, performance and driving comfort. |

And if you are not happy with that, get the MPE and enjoy looking and listening to both exhaust being opened....
