Winter Wheel Options

It's that time of year again...what are people doing for winter rims and tires?

I have the 20-inch wheels, and wanted to retain that size. Should I go with the staggered setup, or drop down to 275 all around? Ideally, I wanted the Nokians, but those aren't available for the larger rear tire size.

I bought a set of like new take off 18" style 446 wheels from a BMW dealer via eBay for cheap a few months back. Have a set of Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 SUV runflats in size 255/55/18 waiting to be mounted.

I have style 451 20 inch wheels for summer wheels so when the 18s go on in a few weeks the car is going to look kind of funny.

Went with the Pirellis Ice and Snow RFT staggered 20". I was very happy with the ride, overall looks and dealing with the elements. From experience don't wait too long if you are going with 20"...availability becomes scarce.

My X5 is somewhere between SC and Bremehaven. I ordered another set of 469Ms with Scorpions which will be mounted when I take delivery in a month or so.

My first BMW, an X6 50i is in the production lineup in South Carolina, it will be coming to Wisconsin in about 4-5 weeks. I too purchased another set of 469 20" rims, staggered with Pirelli Ice and snow RFT. From what I've read here I have confidence that they will do the job in the white stuff.

Yeah, I think that's what I'm going to end up doing.

It's the wife's car, but I have to look at it!

Had the same wait back in July. Where is she going after Bremerhaven?

I'm in Stuttgart. They have some pretty good wheel/tire packages at the local dealer here.

Cheers.

In Ansbach. Think I got a pretty good deal, but not looking any longer in case I didn't.

Now I'm looking for a roof rack and box. Appreciate your steer earlier. I'll probably go with a Thule set up.
