Why won't they give you a courtesy car if it's under warranty? I got a courtesy car when I took my M4 to get an out-of-warranty oil change.

You sound like an uninformed consumer.

They will give you a loaner.... but they don't have any available on YOUR schedule. What do you think, they have an unlimited supply of cars to loan...

Now, to the real problem. They are not going to go over your car looking for problems. Take the car to an independant shop and PAY them for an hour of time to inspect your car for items covered under warranty.

Tell them you have a burning oil smell and feel like you car is burning more oil than should. I have a good relationship with my SA and Shop Foreman and they told me to come up with a laundry list of items to look and to bring in before original warranty is up so that the deductible is waived. That's what I did prior to mine expiring. Warranty or no warranty they should still offer a loaner as you are getting some work done.

Nope, I know they don't have an unlimited supply of vehicles to loan. However, better dealerships, like the one I apparently use, will also consider renting you a vehicle for warranty repairs. They have done that for us when we've had a failure that rendered the vehicle unsafe to operate.

I agree that advanced scheduling is the best way to ensure availability of loaner vehicles, and that's what I did with the service visit I mentioned above. But, the OP did not indicate that the dealer refused a loaner due to availability. He said it was refused due the vehicle being "close to warranty being out." That sounds like BS.

Yeah, our dealership does that as well, but the rentals are usually Toyota's or something similar.

I'm betting if we asked the OP's dealer, they might have a different version from his. And as you said, your dealer, as does mine, provides loaner cars for out of warranty work as well. If indeed it is the case, I certainly hope the OP has an option to go to a different dealer for repairs.

Anyway, I was just pointing that out in case the OP wanted to call and reschedule, again, assuming they would provide a loaner.

That all sucks. Been out of warranty for a year and still get loaners. I just pick the option online when booking my SA. Now it usually puts me 3-4 weeks out so I have to pick a day early if I decide I want a loaner. Although don't ask for a loaner for an oil change lol.

Sometimes they do run out of cars especially since not everyone returns the cars on time, however if they did refuse you a loaner because the warranty is about to run out, I would give them a poor review on the survey.

Great idea. Dealers get very upset when they don't get stellar reviews.
