Has anyone used smooth face e70m rotors (395x36) with f85 or f10 m5 6pot calipers? I'd prefer not to use drilled or slotted rotors.

Alright… got the calipers back and had to return the rotors. The eBay seller was hard to work with, so I returned them and ordered the front rotors from FCP.

Now just waiting on my buddy to send me the Brembo stencils so I can paint them and clear coat the lettering, before I mount them 🤙🏽

Pretty close color match too.

The 3rd & 4th pictures are so you can see up close the color of the caliper (3) and the Mineral White (4)

Looks great! Taking painting options apart, I've mostly worried about bad brakes and was never going for the look, its just me. Installed BMW X5M rotors in the front couple years ago and noticed big difference in braking right away. Finally I had tro-nik's mods installed in the rear couple weeks ago and let me tell you, stopping power is unbelievable. I am so glad I came across tro-nik's posts and installed 4 pistons calipers from porsche/vw in the rear, even when I am doing hard brake car is not diving nose first, you feel it brakes evenly. I love it !!! Big thanks to tro-nik!!!! You are the man!!!

Nice.

I have not gotten around to doing mine. Was doing major services to it and had to stop due to relocation. I am starting back up today on my X5 and hopefully all done before the end of October. I am also replacing the front two wheel bearings.

Guys ! I know it's been written about it, but I can't find the info.
please write the best brake pads to buy, which will be efficient and will not dirty.
From what was written, the original brake pads from MPBK are very dirty and squeaky.
Power stop carbon - fiber z23 / z26 will be ok? Or something better, such as the ECB?

Which one set of brake pads are recommend for MPBK?
I order MPBK and I want everything to have before setting it up

HELP PLEASE!

I bought a pair of those, the BMW M rotors with the reference posted in the main post (34112284901/2), and my mechanic just called me to tell me the rotors don't go in between the pads. ie the breaking pads are too thick by almost 10mm.
Anyone experienced this? What are my options?

PS: it's a timely issue as my car is at the shop right now, would appreciate any help

Well can't say I know anything here but the stupid question is to ask if he's sure the pistons are fully seated. Sometimes they can pop out during movement and give you a false read.

Since this sounds like it's a mashup of parts to work with your said execution I've seen some people resort to filing the brake pad material away to make the pads fit in some cases.

Basically belt sand the pad till it fits.

Do that to get you on the road then figure out what went wrong.

Best guess I can say if your pressed for time

And actually the rotors are going in between the pads, but the surface of the disk is not wide enough for the pad, that's what was happening. No I need to get the correct rotors ASAP.

Other question, what are you guys doing with the shields? Are you removing them totally, buying different ones or modifying the existing ones?

I believe the hub needs to be pulled in order for the protection plate change. Might be easier to cut the lip a little. The existing plate will just be small in diameter to cover the rotor

Smile

Finally, it's done! I planned to paint all calipers in red, but time was going and going, and I saw myself never painting them and never installing them, so I decided to simply apply the M logo and add a protective layer on top, as the original black paint was nice. So they are not super visible but go well with the full black car. It looks good and is finally done after all this time and a little bit of a stressful setup.
Thanks for all the help!

Now I just need to do the coding, my shop couldn't do it, will go to BMW

Question

So my shop couldn't program the brakes, they had a message saying it can be done only at BMW.
I went to BMW, and they decided that because I did not change the rear brakes (even so I told them they are the same breaks, just the size of the disk is changing), they refused to do the programming. I love my BMW dealership so much, I would spend my days there

So... Any help would be appreciated on how could I do that myself. I have the procedure that has been posted, but what do I need to do it, and how to get it (software, etc...)

Alternatively, if there is someone that could help near San Francisco, I would be happy to drive to you and do that together.

Thanks in advance!
