Mercedes is coming out with an X6 fighter. Almost looks the same. Like the X6 that's based on it's X5 cousin, the new X6 fighter from Mercedes is based on their ML series and will include an AMG model.

It is just misleading line under camo, it is fake line, it will not be the same on X6 in real life. I don't like many side lines on x4 and x3, it better to be single sideline like on sedans of previous generations of x

I don't think the X6 is cross-shopped against the Toyota Venza or the 5 Series GT. I have my 2nd X6 now and never would consider those cars. The only one I like is the Acura ZDX. It also fails to mention markets other than the US, such as China, Russia, and Middle East where X6 is doing better. It's a niche car that appeals to a small population. I am sure BMW wouldn't be introducing a 2nd gen X6 if they thought it wouldn't sell. Who knows for 3rd gen but so far it's here to stay, regardless of the year over year sales numbers for 5 cars that remotely resemble each other. The article even points out that the X6 is the exception that is building a 2nd generation while the ZDX is being killed off. It was the first of this type of car, unless you consider the Infinity FX to be in the same segment, and none of the cars that came after it could match the presence, stance, looks of the X6. I think no cars are pointless.
The most ugly car out there will still be pretty in some people's eyes. They can get a whole line up of Xs - X1 X3 X4 X5 X6. And consumers can choose whichever they like the best, isn't that a good thing? Okay if some people don't like X4 and X6, I am sure some other people will.. BMWs are made for everyone. Personally I like my X6, and all my younger generation friends do too. |

I am not even sure FX fits in the same category, I think a lot of people cross shop it with X5. Either way, as far as I know, the 1st gen X6 was produced to be a niche car with limited volume expectations that have been overachieved many times over since the introduction. I agree this car doesn't fit all but it is certainly a) unique and b) has a much more aggressive style than x5 or FX.

I am actually seriously considering getting an x6M after my lease is up in a few months. The residual and the MF for x6M are so much better now than before (I am assuming because everyone is waiting for the re-design) that leasing it makes sense now compared to before

Nothing wrong with that, get it while it's available because once new X6 comes out there'll probably be at least a year with no X6M. The current one is a BEAST.
I still have an idiotic grin on my face every time I get in mine, almost 14,000 miles later (since January 17th of this year - so about 9 months). Wash her myself and everything. |

Yes but not a BMW - a 2012 MB GL550 (still have it but I don't drive it anymore, it's the wife's car). Previous to that I had a 2010 X6 35i which I traded in for the GL550.
No comparison to an X6 in terms of handling. It's more luxurious though and more comfortable but boring. The X6M destroys it performance wise, but the GL550 isn't slow for a 6000 lb 7 seater truck with 387 hp. Come to think of it, I felt it was pretty fast until I got the X6M! (But I always felt the GL handles like a barge, mostly because, it handles like a goddamn barge!) |

Not sure how the new gen production schedule will go or if that info is even out. I know with the E70 X6 (current gen), the cut-over for new MY was in April, so 2013's came out in April 2012!
