Help! Lower instrument cluster not working!

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has encountered this before or knows of a fix? The lower lcd portion of the instrument cluster is not functioning. With the headlights on all I see are the orange lines and during the day only the P, D, R are visible. I've tried all the settings in idrive and the BC button. I've lost the odometer, temp display, the eco mode, and everything else in that lower display.

I'm thinking it'll need to go to the dealer and I'll lose all my coding for the second time.

Thanks!

It happened to me once. I just pulled over and restart the car. Since then, it haven't come back. I did mention to the dealer and even shows the picture, but they can't do anything unless they can duplicate it.

K thanks for the reply r33. It's at the dealer now getting a wash and I did show the service adviser that it's not functioning I just can't drop it off bow because I'm going on a road trip.

I'll just cross my fingers and hope it restores itself the next time I let it sit for a bit.

If it's anything like my F30 you can toggle the bottom display on and off via a setting in iDrive. I think it's called extended display. Granted the F15s have a slightly different gauge cluster/screen (assuming it's the non-mechanical version) but it may still apply...

It started working again as normal after letting it sit for an hour. There isn't a toggle in idrive for it. I'm just happy it's working again!

Thanks for all the replies!
