So after having 3 passengers in the car last night I can notice the drone. It's tolerable and I will probably wouldn't notice it after some time. This might be counter-intuitive, but this makes me want to get the MPPK sooner so the car will have some more power to compensate the weight of passengers and anything in the trunk.

Got my tips installed and let me say the "drone" I had mentioned is still present in comfort mode, but instead of at 1700rpm it's around 1900-2000 rpm at speed or at load.

I am guessing it is due to the old reused tips staying parallel with the bumper instead of protruding outward.

There is no constant noise now of the exhaust and the cabin has quieted down quite a lot.

Hey what do you guys think about adding a resonator to kill that minor drone?

I found some pretty good reviews of this Vibrant Ultra Quiet Resonator that seems promising. Check this video out: http://youtu.be/rLdDl5deOyg

It seems like it really dampens the high notes for a more refined sound. I might try it out before I get the MPPK.

That's a very popular resonator and not too expensive. It will tone down your exhaust drone but it will probably make your MPE inaudible.
Without a reaonator, it's already a pretty tame muffler
If you're going to go for a resonator, I'd recommend a smaller round 3" one. Will cut down the drone a but, maybe even eliminate it.

Had two friends out for a double date last night in the rear seat. They didn't like the burbles in comfort mode auto downshifting guess it can get old in conversation.

Speaking of exhaust tips, after a long trip my chrome tips came back looking satin. It looks pretty nice actually. Thinking now of getting them painted satin silver.

Do you have the MPPK? Other ppl have mentioned they didn't get the burbles in comfort mode; only in sport.

I might just wait until the muffler breaks-in at 1500 miles or so. Then decide on the resonator and the MPPK. The wife has been protesting the MPE already.

That sounds awesome dubsesd!

I only hear it when I have 2 or more passengers in the car. Maybe it also has to do with how far the tips stick out in the rear? Mine are probably less than 1/2" pass the bumper outlet. I need to measure it.

I am getting the MPE on my sDrive 35i. Mine is not an Msport model. My wife has asked if this exhaust will make the car "too loud" as she drives the X5 also - I assume from what I read here thst the exhaust will sound better but not crazy loud.

Will I get some pops and burbles in mine ? I may add MPPK or An aftermarket tune. My X5 is off warranty so why not …

I want it to be a bit louder and pop a bit but not be fart can loud. Our other csr is a 2018 M550i which sounds great and has moderate pops in sport plus mode. My wife loves the M550 so I am guessing she will be ok with the MPE on our X5.

My car was in a small rear ended collision but it damaged the stock exhaust - so I got the body shop to order MPE instead of the OEM system - so it was essentially free - the others guy was at fault 😉

I got MPE and it did not burble / sound well enough for me so I got MPPK as well. Love it now.

What changed about it when you added the tune? Would any aftermarket tune add the stuff you liked or does it need to be the BMW MPPK?

Since my car is not an M sport model I wonder if I could code it and get sport plus mode or no?

I'm pretty sure you can get bubbles from aftermarket tune like bm3. I went the other way around, got mppk and an aftermarket muffler. I get light bubbles in sport mode. I also have an exhaust cutout installed, when I open the valve it is loud and loud burbles and pops

I went the cheaper Vibrant muffler route (cheap man's MPE) and I have absolutely no drone in comfort mode and I'm catless downpipe as well. The Vibrant is by far one of my fav mods to date.

Please educate me on the Vibrant option? I might be interested. I have ER catless DP's.

Also, all the discussion about sound. I just recently upgraded by factory HK speakers to BAVsound and had all 4 door extensively sound deadened with Blackhole. Stuff is amazing. Pretty sure I could have straight pipes and it wouldn't be annoying.

Do you think the sound deadening got rid of any creaming from the interior that you may have had due to all the shitty plastic?

Will need some custom fab work done by a muffler shop. Shop around, I got quotes as high as $500 but ended up finding a shop to do it for $150. Sounds amazing if you ask me.
