Trade-in Current/Lease New
Hi all,
I think you have talked me into getting another diesel. I'm willing to try out the new diesel and get rid of my faulty e70. Now I need some help. The dealership is offering me only $22k for my current e70 diesel with 49k miles that has over a year left of CPO warranty. BMW is offering me an extra 3100 toward my trade because of the problems I've had with the car. My local BMW dealer is willing to go below invoice by a fair amount on the new car to help me out as well. The new F15 I've spec'd out has the following options: M-Sport Alpine White Black Dakota Leather Hexagon trim Cold Weather Package DHP Lighting Package Luxury Seating Package Adaptive M-Suspension with rear axle air suspension Premium Package Harmon Kardon Sound Review Camera - as a stand alone With destination/handling - MSRP of 74,920. So questions: 1. Any options you think I'll regret? I do like my leather dash currently but not sure I want to pay for it again. 2. If I lease this car and trade in my current, with no added cash to the deal, they offered me a payment of 500/month with 10k mikes for 36 months. 3. Residual would be about 42k - that sound pretty good? Does this sound like a good deal? Would it be better to just buy it? I've never done a lease before. I can buy/lease the car through my company (I'm the owner) so I should have a good write off either way. Any/all suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks,

Sounds like a not bad deal and residual looks about right. I guess the big question is if your current X5 is paid for, you are putting a big down payment on a lease and you would be better pocketing the money and paying the lease at the higher price as you pay as you consume, so putting 22k down is like paying a bunch of your lease before you use it and if you can do it through your company or right it off, the higher lease payment may be better for the right off than a big down payment and lower lease payment.
Also look at tax credits depending on your business, you can get a large tax right off on vehicles over a certain GVWR (6000 lbs) and the X5 qualifies. http://www.financialsamurai.com/tax-...iness-expense/ Last thing - search around the forum, but a lot of complaints on the hexagon trim marking and damaging easily.

Yes, listen to Roadkillrob, never ever put anything down on a lease car!
Sell your E70 privately or to places like carmax and bank the cash. Also while taking advice from others is fine, YOU will need to drive both 35i and 35d before making your decision final.

Thanks for the reply! I actually owe 8k on the current X5 still so it wouldn't be quite as much as a down payment on the lease.
So you think it would be better to pull the cash out and use that for paying the lease? Thanks for the tip on the trim. Which is better to get then?

Technically, all trims will be marked and scratched easily...
Wood trims have a clear coating that scratches just as easily but won't be as noticeable... It all depends on how well you take care of your car though... 11 months, 9,000 miles later and my hexagon trim is flawless.
