Sat Radio

I thought every new car comes with 1 year of free radio but it seems my car doesnt allow me to tune to any sat radio channels. The only channel that shows up is preview channel.

Any thoughts? Do i have to call to activate it or something ?

Yes, you will need to call to activate. I've had some dealers that did it for me and others that did not where I had to call and do it. It's best to call from the car.

Yeah they should have done it for you, or at least alerted you to it. If you already have service, make sure they automatically transition to it after the free trial.

Mine didn't come activated. I needed to call them. I actually added it to my account manually and they charged me for a year. After the call they credited me the year.

Yes, you will probably need to call and activate it. I already had a subscription from my trade-in that I just called and transferred over to the X5.

I've been renewing @ the 5mos/$25 rate on both my cars for the last few years now. Their offers change so often and the customer service people can't confirm what's out there or not. I usually don't have a hard time renewing at this rate, but it could take a couple tries.

Mine works out to be around $15 a month (pre-paid for the year).

That's way to much. Like I said, you can easily get the five or six dollars/month rate next time you're up for renewal. You'd have to renew a couple times a year so if you're happy with your rate now and don't want the hassle, $15 ain't bad I suppose.

The last time I renewed, about 9 months ago, after a little negotiating, I paid less than $90 a year. That was about half what they originally asked. I have 2 subscriptions, one is a lifetime subscription on my '07 Shelby GT (less than $300 eight years ago) and this one on my Subaru. I love Sirius but refuse to pay their asking price and have found that you don't have to. Their price is highly negotiable, much like cable tv rates.

I was not aware the rates were negotiable. I will have to negotiate me some rates. I'm paying for it on four vehicles!

Next time you call them - say you recently saw a promotion for 5 months for $25. 90% of the time they'll honor it. If not, say you want to cancel because it's too expensive and then they'll offer it to you...

Found a post in the F30 forums about a guy on eBay that sells a one year subscription for $65. I was a bit skeptical but it worked on my F30. Gonna renew my F15 soon from the same guy.
