Exhaust

So I swear, my E70 X5 has a much better and deeper exhaust tone than my X6M. Not as loud but the tone is unmistakably V8, while the X6M can be confused for a V6 with a hole in the exhaust.

I need to fix this ASAP, and looking for some good options. I see many going with Akrapovic exhaust, but from what I saw in the videos it mostly makes the exhaust louder, but I'm actually looking to get that deep V8 tone. Any suggestions?

Stock does get deeper and louder after 10,000 Miles. The packing gets coated with water and carbon over time.

Akra is a solid choice but relatively tame in the volume it adds. Check out this system we installed recently. Full FI with catless downpipes:

That seems to be a nice system. Its very raspy in the default mode, but when you use that remote control and switch it, the sound is a lot more V8-like. What does it do exactly?

All it does is close the exhaust valves. How loud do you want the exhaust to be? I can help you choose the right one.

Not necessarily looking for loud, its already loud enough, its just too "raspy" for the lack of better expression, and lack that deep sound of a v8.
