2018 Bmw X5 M Azurite Black Metallic, Aragon Brown Fml

As I recently said in another thread, I ordered my 2018 BMW X5 M back in June right after the 2018 pricing guide came out for diplomatic and military sales pricing overseas. I am in Germany. It was submitted as a 2018 build, and had a build slot allocated for the week of 4 September. I am looking forward to delivery in week 42 (approximately 16 OCT), since I have to wait an additional 4 weeks for shipping from the US to Germany. Hoping the Azurite Black metallic does not slow down the delivery timeline.

My 2018 BMW X5 M Configuration:

S34 - Azurite Black Metallic
X3D8 - Aragon Brown Full Merino Leather (Black and Tan two-tone)
2TP - 21” M Light Alloy Double spoke wheels style 612 M
ZEC - Executive Package (Includes 2017 Driving Assistance Plus Package)
4MC - Carbon Fiber Trim
6FT - Bang & Olufsen Sound System
6UK - Night Vision with Pedestrian Detection
6FH - Rear Seat Entertainment Professional
7ME - M Driver’s Package
3AT - Roof Rails in Satin Aluminum
3MB - Satin Aluminum Exterior Trim
6CP - Apple Car Play Compatability
5DP - Parking Assistant (Now Standard on X5 M, I think)

Also ordered the Winter Tire and Wheel Package with the Orbit Grey style 611 M wheels. Need this here since the high performance summer tires are not allowed in the winter.

I will post some pictures as soon as I can. I have not seen anyone with my interior and exterior color combo.

I have attached a few images from the online configuration tool, and a few pictures from internet sources I used to make the interior full merino leather choice of Aragon Brown.

I wanted to add the link that JcLusso put in one of his recent posts. You can look up a build based on the VIN. My last seven is 0X21081

https://www.bmwvin.com/

Again, hoping to get delivery here in Germany around 16 October. Will get pictures up as soon as possible.

I hope your Military sale goes smoother than mine did from Bahrain. It was a complete nightmare and Ben at RG Sport shop can attest to that... Congrats on the beautiful build!

It has gone reasonably well so far. Anything particular that went wrong for you? Everything is complete for me in terms of the loan, and I just need the vehicle to be delivered and drive away. Definitely hoping that I am not in for any surprises as you seem to be indicating you had some serious troubles.

I just noticed your information to the left of your post indicates Del Mar, CA. I am in Stuttgart now, but own a home in Del Sur. Just a few miles inland of the race track in Del Mar. Guessing by your and my military sales purchases and the similar location in San Diego, we have some additional similarities. Hope you enjoy your X5 M despite the trouble with the military sales program/process.

Great color combo! Can't wait to see live pictures. The satin chrome for the roof line and window trim adds class, as I also went this way for my on order 2018 F85 (Long Beach Blue with Sonoma beige full). With the alcantara head liner a dark color, only full merino matchs up well with it, as neither extended or individual has the contrast black.

I totally agree. I chose the Satin Aluminum Trim because it just seemed to go better with the chrome colored kidney grills, X5 M logo, and the side vents. Also the 612 m wheels are silver/polished. Just thought it would all balance out better, specifically with the Azurite.

I feel like Azurite goes best with all the shiny trim. I do not necessarily intend to black out anything, or I would have ordered the shadow line trim and the factory Black 612 m style wheels. I probably also would have just chose the Black Sapphire metallic.

I have had so many all black leather interiors in vehicles like my Audi Q7 and my Mercedes GL 450. So I really struggled, but finally thought that a brighter leather interior would pair well with the Azurite Black metallic.

I am really looking forward to delivery, and being able to see it all with my own eyes. It is really hard to get a good idea of Azurite and Aragon in BMW stock photos.

I will definitely post some photos as soon as I can.

I found some better BMW advertising photos of the Aragon Brown interior I ordered for those of you still looking at ordering, and trying to decide on the interior options. I will surely provide some interior photos once I take delivery for comparison.

Bmw Usa Website 2018 Bmw X5 M Build Your Own Configuration Tool Updated

Still waiting for pictures, but just wanted everyone to know that the online BMW USA website ?build your own? configuration tool is now showing 2018 year model, and has the reconfigured Executive Package that includes everything such as the driving assistance plus Package from 2017, and the parking assistant feature that was a $500.00 standalone option for 2017.

This build your own tool shows the option of factory black wheels style 612 M, but the images do not properly display the right wheels when selected.

Weirdly, the BMW.DE website shows the appropriate seats in the configuration images, but the BMW USA website shows the wrong seats from the external view as seen through the windows/windshield.

Looks like they have also fixed the configurator to prompt the change to Merino leather dash, when selecting the BMW Individual Extended leather options. Confusing use of Extended and Full. When will they fix that.

Hopefully those of you still looking to order can make use of the 2018 build your own configuration tool to make your decisions now.

How is your delivery time line going? Keep us posted as this is interesting for DE military delivery. Can you track your ship like we can for ED?

The delivery timeline is looking like next week still in terms of a truck pulling up to the dealer, but that does not mean I will get my hands on it next week. Specifically, the dealership I am working with that does the diplomatic and military sales program is NOT able to track the vehicle. This means that my X5 M could arrive Monday, but they will not be able to tell me until it is offloaded off the transport truck. It also means it might still be on a ship. It could be sitting in a customs parking lot in Bremerhaven. I do not know. I imagine there is a more structured process that assists in ?tracking? or communicating the location of BMWs that are arriving for European delivery.

The dealer also advised me that it is approximately a 5 day process for them to prep and inspect the vehicle, and for me to get the delivery experience. 5 working days after the X5 M arrives on a truck, they take it out of transport mode, administratively in-process the vehicle, inspect the vehicle, clean and prep the vehicle for delivery, and swap the summer performance tires and wheels for the winter tire and wheel package (based on necessity in Germany this time of year). I have no idea why it takes approximately 5 days. Wonder if it is anything like when German specification BMW vehicles are inspected thoroughly when they arrive from the US plant. Also, not sure how each and every dealer works the delivery experience, but the one I am working with is putting me up in a hotel the night prior, and spending several hours with me on delivery day to provide a detailed overview of all the features of the X5 M and iDrive etc. Apparently, the employee I will meet with is akin to a BMW Genius and has extensive training, and even customer service awards for teaching new BMW Owners.

I also know that if they really wanted to, they could build a network of relationships with the port, the drivers, and the rest of the logistical process of shipping a car from the US to Germany. However, customer service in Germany is just not anything like that. It is really shocking when you first arrive to Germany and have any expectations on customer service. The concept just is not there, unless the business is designed to cater to Americans, such as the military sales. Even then, if my dealer wanted to replicate the customer service of the US, they would be trying to extract this information from German customs officials, and German transportation businesses, so it is probably just to difficult to get all the varied agencies synchronized and communicating to inform the customer.

It is important to mention that this dealership also provided me a free loaner vehicle for a couple months while I waited for delivery. To this day I am still driving a 2017 BMW X5 they provided me. I simply had to register the vehicle and get insurance.

I am hoping to be satisfied with the delivery experience. I believe they are trying to replicate the BMW Welt experience at their dealer location, minus the massive multi-million dollar facility / museum / exhibition center. I was told to not pay for delivery at BMW Welt, but I have no basis for following that suggestion other than believing someone when they told me it is very structured, and time sensitive. I was cautioned that since my schedule is unpredictable, I might get a BMW Welt delivery date, and miss it due to work, and completely lose out because I missed my delivery day due to work.

iDrive 6.0 CONFIRMED ON 2018 X5 M???

BMW USA Website actually displays iDrive 6.0 for 2018 X5 M. Can anyone with a 2018 confirm this? Picture from the X5 M website today. Not only does the picture show iDrive 6.0, but the written description does also. To find the written description it is near the bottom of the highlights tab, and you have to scan through a right to left array of four pictures by clicking or swiping.

Update. JcLusso just confirmed his 2018 X5 M produced on 8 Sep 2017 does have the live tiles that are featured in iDrive 6.0. I looked further on the BMW USA website, and listed under standard features is iDrive 6.0. This all seems to verify that iDrive 6.0 is now a standard feature on the 2018 X5 M. Another picture from the BMW USA website shows iDrive 6.0 below.

I am still impatiently waiting. My dealership still has not received delivery of my X5 M. To top it all off, it will take them a few days to inspect, prep for delivery, change out tires, and have the vehicle ready for me to drive away. I did not think delivery would be so slow. The dealership advised me that it would be scheduled to arrive in week 42. That was the week starting 15 October. Next week has two German holiday days off, so even if it happens to be delivered on Monday, I will not get my hands on it until Saturday, 4 November, or maybe even Monday, 6 November at the earliest. No idea when it will actually arrive. Waiting on a ship from the US to arrive, and get everything offloaded and through customs is not enjoyable. My dealership is checking with BMW Headquarters in Munich to see if there was a hold up in the shipping or in customs. Will let you all know more when I hear something.

Still waiting. Hoping to get an update tomorrow now that today marked the end of a German National holiday. Decided to update some BMW advertising interior pictures. Previously I posted the photos of an Aragon Brown interior like I ordered, but it displayed iDrive 5.0 graphical interface.

I updated those photos once the X5 M page updated on the BMW USA website, but those photos were in Mugello Red and Aluminum Trim. Below are an updated set with both the Aragon Brown (black and tan) interior with carbon fiber trim like I ordered.

As I already said, I am quite impatient now waiting for delivery of a vehicle that was produced on 12 September. Hoping to get some delivery pictures up within a week, if it ever gets off the boat and clears customs!

My dealership just advised me that BMW was able to confirm my X5 M has arrived to Bremerhaven. The German holiday for two days this week have probably delayed my delivery. Hoping it arrives to the dealership on Monday. Hoping to take customer delivery later next week.
