2015 F15 X5 35i Euro Headlight Switch

Has anyone in the U.S. been able to find a vendor that can supply a Switch Control element light BMW P/N 61 31 9 311 727? This is the Euro Headlight switch that directly plugs into the harness and enables the rear fog lamps? It is identified as part '3' of four depicted on the BMW parts web page. Appreciate any input for purchase in the U.S.

Can you not just order it direct from a vendor in Europe?

Thinking about it could you just plug a European switch into the harness and have it work properly?

I know when WDImagineer swapped his rear lights to European ones from US ones the wiring was all different and it was a hell of a job to make it work.

+1

He had to re-wire, code, new lights. And coding rear fogs interfere with Break Force Display I believe (weak recollection from coding discussions)

I'd also troll eBay international listings. Of course, we'd love to hear how it turns out. So please try

It won't enable your rear fog lights. The US lights are incompatible. And this is no longer plug and play on the F15 chassis, even if it did. The switch is now part of the vehicle bus, and any ISTA/P programming will reject it.

Thanks for the responses. It appears to not be worth the effort. It was so easy on my 2013 X3 28i.

Unfortunately true. Enabling rear fogs and swapping to European tails on every BMW I've owned has been simple plug and play.

Had I known what was involved I wouldn't have done it. Tearing apart my brand new car wasn't something I wanted to do.

I was thinking of something similar... but it's just not worth.

Tail lamps, turning signals, and fog lights...

I hate how it's a blank button. That's what annoys me the most.

i know this is old but not sure where the confusion is on rear fogs not working on the f15.

just wanted to update on my 2017 f15 USA build i installed the euro switch and coded rear fog lamps successfully. i like it a lot and integration into the 6WB also swapped over with the OEM lamp light is very clean and i like that all the buttons on the lighting switch panel light up unlike on my f30 where it was dead unless you also swapped the panel.

Nice man. Interesting. Did you just wing it? Or did you have a tip that this would actually work on the 2017?
