Has anyone looked at Infiniti QX60 with 2016 refresh? Supposed to have usable CVT and large 3rd room for the size of the vehicle.

Agreed! I've driven the QX60 and absolutely hated the CVT. The room in that third row is only decent if you have short legs but otherwise your knees are in your chest. It is more easily accessible than others however.

I'll take your words for it, and will pass QX60.
Checked Q7 as well, and surprisingly for the size of Q7, 3rd row was still cramped. XC90 has almost the best 3rd row space, but the best one has to be LR Discovery, it's basically full set of seats.

That is how I felt about the LR3 and feel about the LR4... It is a clumsy system but I love how the seats fold into the floor and the seats are essentially full size seats coupled with the alpine roof gives ample room. The 4L Q7 was decent and supposedly the 4M is more accommodating but I don't see it. It certainly is more convenient with the electric operation but size wise I do not see much more room over it's previous version.

I am looking into a VW Atlas SEL Premium. I looked at a 4Runner Limited but it is a dinosaur compared to the rest of the industry.

Technology, performance, and comfort is not up to par with X5 or Q7 but with kids, I think it is a great compromise and low-key for 10 years or so. I drive less than 7,000 miles per year.

If you want a true 3 row truck then you gotta go with an Escalade ESV, pops just picked one up last week and it's deff roomy enough.
We looked at the LX570 which has absolutely no room inside and the GLS450 which feels very outdated. The Escalade was the best decision.

My other vehicle is a new Chevy Tahoe ltz. It's amazingly equipped for about the same.price as my new x5. The Tahoe is an excellent vehicle with a load of options. I love the sytling as well with 22" wheels.

2018 Mazda CX-9 Signature

Test drove the 2018 Mazda CX-9 Signature based on the rave reviews it has been acquiring and it's quite fun to drive.

The engine reminds me of the Volvo XC90 I test drove a week ago with the torque readily available at 2K RPM 4-cylinder engine.

The technology package is included in the GT and Signature trim and price point of $52,000CAD or $45,000US is not bad at all.

The only usable tech missing that I use daily is the Surround View or bird's eye view.

Signature Model

PROS
cockpit-style seating
handling, low-end torque
full technology package minus Surround View
decent mpg, takes Regular fuel
Nappa leather

CONS
limited lumbar adjustment (forward and back only)
manual telescopic steering wheel adjustment
no panoramic roof and Surround View
only 3,500 lbs. towing capacity
less intuitive infotainment versus iDrive
excessive lower body molding plastic cladding
plastic-chrome interior trim
smaller headroom for second and third row
no CD player
no HVAC on 3rd Row
no trunk or privacy cover

I exhausted all options what I was considering and decided I cannot give up the X5 right now. With 26,000 miles in 4 years of ownership, I think I can go for another ~30,000 miles in the next 4-5 years.

I decided to get an extended warranty for 5 years or 62,000 miles for $6K (That is $1K loyalty discount).

Here is the summary of the CONS from each vehicle I was considering:

Atlas - no R-Line with SEL Premium, VR6 motor not enough power for our elevation, minivan-feel, plastic everywhere, consumer reviews, no rear air suspension.

CX-9 - no panoramic roof and surround view, interior details can be better refined, 2nd row does not split 40/20/40, no HVAC in 3rd row, no rear air suspension.

4Runner - dinosaur technology, slow transmission and engine, suspension floaty even with XREAS setup.

XC90 - infotainment all in the touch screen, engine is noisy, suspension floaty.

The 5 & 7 series operate in the same way as will the new X5.
