Dinan Performance Tuner Stage 1 w/ MPPk Installed

Hi fellow F15/F16 Members. Has anyone ever stack the Dinantronics Performance Tuner Stage 1 w/ MPPk Installed already? I'm just curious. I see a lot of people stacking the MPPK w/ Racechip. So, I was just wondering what this would feel like. They claim 364 HP, 430 lb-ft of torque. Anyone tried it yet? Thanks in advance.

I spoke with BMW Princeton yesterday who is an authorized Dinan dealer and asked the same question. They said there is no benefit to stacking the two because you will only receive the benefit of one. You cannot add them together for performance.

You can stack Dinan over MPPK. Dinan makes a unit especially for MPPK. Installed it on the wifes 35 and it is a nice upgrade in power.

as far as I know the stack doesn't make a difference in power. the mppk is only good for sound once it's stacked .

It has to do something stacked. It says on their website - Stage 1 (DINANTRONICS Performance Tuner ONLY) Maximum Power: 360 HP, 392 lb-ft of torque. But with MPPK Stage 1 (DINANTRONICS Performance Tuner ONLY) Maximum Power on the F15 X5 35i and F16 X6 35i with MPPK: 364 HP, 430 lb-ft of torque on an electronic wastegate vehicle with M-Performance Software (MPPK) and an automatic transmission. Thats 38 more lb-ft of torque

So your paying $1400 for 38lbs more torque. I think Dinan is the better way to go.

I read on another BMW forum that Dinan's quoted numbers are pretty extreme? Is there so much of an increase in torque that it can be really felt? I am considering it at some point near year on my F15.

I would like to feel a significant difference versus just notice a difference in power characteristics.

I do hear MPPK is pretty true to its quoted numbers, so it is my primary option. Wish I could drive a stock 35i and MPPK 35i back to back and compare the difference for myself.

Yeah me too. I wish there was a way to test it before you buy it. But for now I think I'm going with MPPK also. I just wanted to see what was out there far as tunes for the 35i Models.

Dinan's numbers are pretty spot on. They use Dynopaks connected right at the hubs. Also keep in mind that there can be significant variations from dyno to dyno, different operators, weather, etc.. What you want to look at is deltas and Dinan provides that for you on there specifications section. BMW quoted, Dinan measure stock, Dinan measure post tune.

The huge plus side is MPPK is a BMW accessory so it's gone through the motions as well as backed by BMW itself.

Dinan used to offer same warranty as BMW but I believe it's not applicable anymore.

Spoke with BMW Princeton and Dinan still offers same warranty. BMW will deal directly with Dinan if there are any issues and keep the customer out of it. Seamless according to BMW.

Most likely for BMW authorized Dinan centers. You can search on Dinan's site for nearest BMW dealer and call them directly.

see someone is wrong somewhere because a couple of months ago I talked to 2 (maybe 3 I can't remember) and I was told by all of them that Dinan is no longer warrantied. this is in Canada.

I was referring to US. No idea about Canada.

Only DINAN Sports has no warranty to make their prices low and competitive with other piggyback tunes.

All other high-end DINAN tunes still have warranties. I got the DINAN Sport ($300) stacked over my MPPK.

Did your dealer install it? Since its not warranted for consequential damages, would the dealer attempt to blame engine failures on the Dinan software? (Perhaps they would not do this if they installed it)

For Dinan Sport tune, I did myself. It?s a 5-minute install. And 30-minutes to play around with settings via Bluetooth

yes,i have Dinantronics stage 1,mppk,mpe,k&n drop in filter.I'm very happy with the extra power that i got and how the engine still run smoothly.I can nothice the sound of the engine sucking more air and the sporty sound of the mpexaust from the outside but very quiet inside the cabine.Yes adding about 70hpw & 130ft, i can definitely feel the difference. Most people think the X5 it just typical heavy SUVan,until they see me take off from a traffic light or pop out from a dead stop traffic jam!! I see the look on their face reaction(wt..f!!!).I hope i can take the X5 to dino the next couple weeks and get the real number than i'll post it.
